Student answer (Band 4.5)
Some people believe that it is best to accept a bad situation, such as an unsatisfactory job or shortage of money. Others argue that it is better to try and improve such situations, as both of them had a different point of view but in my opinion this should be better that if we had a good job and we made a good amount of money. This is because having money and a better job is much better than having nothing, and i also think that money brings happiness and with out money people seemed very helpless and worried about their future. Nothing is worst then being unemployed or being in a job that disturbes your mental peace and effects your health too. Having a good job and making alot of money is a part of every one's dream and it can be done by working hard as some people also have a thought that they wished they could have alot of money without working hard and not even bothering working, but we know that even without working we could not achieve any thing in our life and be a loser at the end. So, my point of view is that, we should work hard and do make alot of money and never try to accept a bad situation because we are working hard to have a better life not for adjusting and settling for bare minimum. Never settle for bare minimum and never stopped working hard as i thought.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.0
You state a clear preference for trying to improve difficult circumstances, especially through hard work, and you give relevant reasons: a better job and income may improve security and health. However, the task asks you to discuss both views, and the view that people may accept a bad situation is not meaningfully explained; it is mainly repeated as something you reject. Your examples and reasoning are also general rather than developed, so the response addresses the task only minimally. The response contains 217 words, which is 33 words below the 250-word minimum; 33 words copied from the task prompt were not counted. To strengthen your answer, explain why someone might accept a situation, then develop your own position with a specific example and clearer supporting detail.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 3.5
Your opinion is identifiable, and phrases such as “This is because” and “So, my point of view” signal reasons and a conclusion. However, the response is presented as one long paragraph, so the discussion of the two views, your opinion, and your conclusion are not separated into clear stages. Several ideas run together in lengthy sentences, particularly the section beginning “Having a good job and making alot of money…”, which makes the progression difficult to follow. Linking is also repetitive, with frequent use of “and” and “because,” and “as both of them had a different point of view” does not clearly connect the ideas. Use separate paragraphs for each view and your position, and make each sentence develop one main point.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use enough basic vocabulary to communicate your central view, including “unsatisfactory job,” “mental peace,” “unemployed,” and “future.” There are also attempts at emphatic phrasing, such as “settling for bare minimum.” However, the range is limited and several expressions are repetitive or imprecise, including repeated references to “a good job” and “alot of money.” Some word choices and collocations are inaccurate, for example “Nothing is worst then” and “a job that disturbes your mental peace.” Spelling and written forms such as “alot,” “with out,” and “every one's” also reduce accuracy. Aim for more precise phrases such as “financial security” and “job satisfaction,” and check spelling and collocations carefully.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
You attempt some longer sentences using clauses introduced by “as,” “because,” and “that,” but these structures are often difficult to control, and most sentences contain errors. For example, “as both of them had a different point of view” is awkwardly attached to the opening, while “we should work hard and do make alot of money” has an incorrect verb construction. There are also errors in agreement and verb forms, as in “people seemed very helpless” and “never stopped working hard,” as well as missing or incorrect articles and punctuation. These problems sometimes make relationships between ideas unclear. Practise building accurate simple sentences first, then combine them with one well-controlled subordinate clause; proofread for tense, agreement, and sentence boundaries.
