Student answer (Band 6.0)

It is often argued that accepting situations like job dissatisfaction or financial crisis is the best practice. Others, however believe that, taking initiatives to improve these situations are better. This eassy will discuss both views before giving any personal perspective.

Unfavorable situations are pretty common in everyone's life. Some of them often tend to accept their fate and decide to go through this without complaining. There are several reasons why some people ignore difficult situations such as unsatisfactory job or shortage of economy. One main reason is that, nowadays it has become difficult to get employed due to the shortage of job opportunities. Most of the skilled people remain unemployed after their graduation even if they have good results or satisfactory qualifications. Also those who are employed cannot regine from their position beacuse of the living expenses these days. So whether they are happy or not with the environment of their workplace or with the salary they are provided it left them with no choise but accepting this circumstance.

Some people have different views regarding this situation. People often debate that no matter how worse the situation is, things can be changed by taking proper initiatives. According to them , job holders who are unsatisfied with their job or salary may try to build computational skills. As the advancement of technology have overtaken almost every fields it is always better to learn some technical skills. This will help them not only in office works but also provide them a backup plan for the future. People who are unemployed or struggle to survive with little amount of money can start freelancing or apply for remote jobs by learning this computational features. Office going persons can also engage themselves with some sort of remote jobs in their free times and can solve their financial problem.

In conclusion, although there are lots of debate between people about this situations, I believe the other perspective is more logical that people should always try to improve their situations rather than dealing with it for a long time.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

The response addresses both views and gives a clear opinion in the conclusion: you explain why people may remain in unsatisfactory work because of limited opportunities and living costs, then argue that people should take steps to improve their circumstances. These points are relevant and the examples of learning technical skills or seeking remote work help make the second view concrete. However, the two sides are not developed equally: the reasons for accepting a bad situation are explained more fully, while the proposed solutions are presented broadly, without showing how they would work or what limitations they might have. To strengthen the response, extend each main idea with a specific example and explain the consequences, while maintaining your stated position throughout.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The essay has a clear overall structure: an introduction, separate paragraphs for the two views, and a conclusion that states your opinion. The progression from reasons for accepting circumstances to possible ways of changing them is easy to follow, and signposts such as “Others, however” and “In conclusion” help orient the reader. Some linking is mechanical or unclear, though. For example, “Some people have different views regarding this situation” repeats the transition without adding much, and the long sentence beginning “So whether they are happy or not” contains several connected ideas that would be clearer if divided. Use referencing more precisely and vary transitions by showing the relationship between ideas, such as cause, contrast, or result.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use a range of topic-related vocabulary, including “job opportunities,” “living expenses,” “advancement of technology,” and “backup plan,” so the main ideas are generally understandable. There are also attempts at more formal phrasing, such as “taking proper initiatives.” However, noticeable spelling, word-choice, and collocation errors reduce precision: “eassy,” “regine,” and “computational skills” do not communicate the intended meanings naturally, while “shortage of economy” is an inaccurate phrase. Some expressions are also vague or informal, such as “pretty common” and “things can be changed.” Aim for accurate, natural combinations and check spelling carefully; choosing familiar precise vocabulary is more effective than using an unsuitable technical-sounding term.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

The response includes both simple and complex sentence forms, including a conditional structure (“even if they have good results”) and a contrast clause (“although there are lots of debate…”). Most ideas remain understandable, but errors in agreement, verb forms, articles, and sentence construction occur across the response. For example, “the advancement of technology have overtaken” has a subject–verb agreement problem, and “it left them with no choice” shifts tense within a general explanation. In “whether they are happy or not … it left them,” the sentence structure also makes the relationship between the clauses difficult to follow. Review agreement and tense consistency, and break long sentences into clearer units. More accurate control of these patterns would make your complex sentences easier to read.
