Student answer (Band 6.0)

A few people argue that it's best to accept bad situation such as unwanted job or shortage of money while others believe that it's better to try and improve such situations. I partly agree with both statements. I think it depends on circumstances you're in.

Proponents of statement that we should accept unwanted situation suggest that we should embrace every situation bravely. Their argument it's better to just accept the situation and stick to it without any complains. They think arguing over unwanted situations doesn't help any cause infact it actually makes it worse. I think in that case they are right. They are partly right because unsatisfactory jobs are sometimes better than being unemployed. For instance, if someone is stuck with some sort of financial situation then it's far better for them to have a job which doesn't satisfy then being unemployed.

However others argue that we should try and improve those situations. Their beleive that instead of sticking to unwanted situations one should try his best to make improvement. They're also right because I believe that; Consistency is the key to success. We should try our best to make improvements.

Although my belief is that the circumstances play a significant role in both cases. For example if you are in some sort of situation where you do not have any other option than to accept an unwanted job then you should embrace that situation. Conversely, if you are in a situation where you have other options then you should try again and again to improve that situation.

To conclude, I would say that one should be strong enough to accept either case, whether you have to accept any situation or you have to make efforts to try and improve it.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You discuss both views and give a conditional personal position: accepting a job may be sensible when unemployment is the alternative, while trying to improve circumstances is preferable when other options exist. These points are relevant and the examples help explain your reasoning. However, the discussion of the second view is much less developed: “Consistency is the key to success” is asserted, but you do not explain what practical steps someone might take or illustrate this view with a specific example. Your conclusion repeats the idea that circumstances matter rather than drawing together the reasons behind your position. Develop both sides more evenly and make your judgement more explicit to strengthen the response.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The response has a clear overall arrangement: an introduction, separate paragraphs for the two views, a paragraph explaining your position, and a conclusion. Linking expressions such as “However,” “For instance,” and “Conversely” help readers follow the contrast, and the progression is generally logical. This meets the lower-band expectations securely and shows some features of stronger organisation. At times, though, connections are repetitive or mechanical, particularly the repeated use of “situation” and the sequence of “They are partly right” and “They’re also right.” The reference in “Their argument it’s better” is also unclear. Use more precise referencing and connect each example directly to the point it supports for smoother progression.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use enough vocabulary to communicate the topic, including phrases such as “unsatisfactory jobs,” “financial situation,” and “significant role.” There are also attempts at more expressive language, including “embrace” and “Consistency is the key to success.” However, the range is limited by repeated general words such as “situation,” “better,” and “try,” and some choices or forms are inaccurate: “unwanted situation” is less natural than “difficult circumstances,” while “Their beleive” contains a spelling error and “without any complains” is not the correct expression. These issues do not prevent understanding, but they reduce precision. Build a wider set of topic-specific collocations and check spelling and word forms.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You use both simple sentences and some more complex forms, including a conditional structure in “if you are in some sort of situation where you do not have any other option.” Most sentences communicate the intended meaning, and the paragraphing gives your ideas room to develop. However, some grammatical errors remain, especially with articles, sentence construction, and punctuation. For example, “accept bad situation” needs an article, and “Their argument it’s better to just accept” is not a complete, correctly formed clause. The semicolon in “I believe that; Consistency” is also inappropriate. Practise forming complete clauses and checking articles and punctuation, while retaining the conditional structures you already attempt.
