Student answer (Band 6.0)

It is often argued that people should stay happy even in a bad situtation like, lack of job satisfaction or lack of money, while others believe that people should try their best to improve it. This essay will discuss both prespective before explaining why I believe that it is important to try best to improve the situation.

On the one hand, there are several reasons why some people believe that sticking to the bad situation is the only solution. The primary reason is that people find it difficult to work on the environment that harms them. This is because sticking to a bad situation will at least give them stability and they do not have to deal with any uncertain circumstances. For example, accepting an unsatisfactory job will leads to job security and income, by which people can deal their everyday expences. Furthermore, rising unemployment and high taxation scare people to become penny less if they try to get out of this situation, which means that accepting a job or hand to mouth income provide them a roof and a warm food which seems to be better to accept a bad situation.

On the other hand, other contend that people should try to make these situations better. One significant reason for this is that many protest goes in a right direction when people took stand for themselves. In other words, trying to resolve the issues which make the job unsatisfatory. For instance, salary increment demanded by the employees is often accknowledged by the upper hierarchy which resolves the issue. Another important point is that the effort put by the people, is itself satisfactory. Putting an effort to overcome the problems motivate people to improve every bad situation, like a leader. Consequently, this approach builds confidence in people and create problem-solving skills. This makes this prespective particularly convincing.

In conclusion, althought there are valid arguments in favour of accepting the bad situation, I believe that trying to improve them is more beneficial beacuse it leads to solution and build confidence.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

You address both views and state a clear opinion: the introduction favours trying to improve a situation, and the conclusion repeats this position. The discussion of accepting a poor situation is relevant, especially the points about stability, income and uncertainty. You also support improvement with examples such as employees requesting a salary increase and the confidence gained through effort. This meets the task well, though the two sides are not equally developed: the first paragraph’s point about unemployment and taxation is difficult to follow, while the claim that protests “go in a right direction” needs clearer explanation and a more specific example. Develop these ideas with a direct explanation of how they affect people and connect each example to your argument.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The response has a clear overall structure, with an introduction, separate paragraphs for the two views, and a conclusion. Signposting such as “On the one hand,” “On the other hand,” and “In conclusion” makes the progression easy to recognise. Within paragraphs, you generally move from a reason to an explanation or example. However, some links are mechanical, and a few connections are unclear. For instance, the shift from job security to “rising unemployment and high taxation” does not clearly show how these points support accepting a bad situation. The reference in “improve them” is also broad, and “like a leader” interrupts the point about effort and confidence. Make the relationship between each claim and its example more explicit, and use linking phrases selectively.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use a range of topic-related vocabulary, including “stability,” “uncertain circumstances,” “job security,” “salary increment,” and “problem-solving skills.” These choices help communicate the main ideas, and some less common expressions show an attempt to be precise. However, noticeable spelling and word-choice errors reduce accuracy, including “situtation,” “prespective,” “expences,” “accnowledged,” and “beacuse.” Some collocations are also unnatural or unclear, such as “penny less,” “a warm food,” and “protest goes in a right direction.” Aim to learn vocabulary in natural phrases and check spelling carefully. More precise wording would make your arguments easier to understand without changing their meaning.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt a mix of simple and complex structures, including clauses with “while,” “because,” and “which,” and most of the main ideas remain understandable. There are, however, some recurring errors in verb forms, agreement, articles and sentence construction. For example, “accepting an unsatisfactory job will leads” should use the base form after “will,” and “this approach builds confidence in people and create” needs consistent subject–verb agreement. In “people took stand,” the tense and article are not controlled, while “salary increment demanded by the employees is often acknowledged” needs a clearer grammatical structure. Review agreement and verb patterns, and proofread each sentence for complete, correctly connected clauses.
