Student answer (Band 6.0)

In today's rapidly changing world, role of financial security in our life is a matter of considerable debate. Some people argue that it is best to just accept a bad situation, such as an unsatisfacory job or shortage of money. While other believe that we should try to improve such situations. In this essay I will discuss both point of views before giving my opinion.

On of the primary reasons people think it is better to accept the unsatisfactory job because they believe that it would make their situation more worse. This is because in many developing countries such as Pakistan, employment rate is low and people think if they leave their cuurent unsatisfacotry job they won't be able to secure a new job. Some people accept shortage of money as their luck because they are in their comfort zone and don't want to do hardwork assosiated with improved condition. As a result, although job is unsatisfactory or paying low salary, workers stay. It is evident that many people are not able to improve their situation because they believe that it will bring more financial problems or they would have to compromise their comfort.

On the other hand, some people argue that we should try to improve our situation. This is because our well-being is more important than salary from an unsatisfactory job. A recent research in Pakistan shows that many employees are stressed because of unsatisfaction at workplace. Secondly, sometimes leaving a bad situation open new door of opportunity for us. In my opinion, we should always try to do better for ourselves and give ourselves life we deserve. We should focus on identifying our potentional and work on it.

In conclusion, although some people believe that we should accept the bad situation, in my opinion we should try to improve our living conditions.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You address both views and state a consistent opinion: the first main paragraph explains why people may stay in insecure employment or accept limited finances, while the second argues for seeking better circumstances. The examples about low employment in Pakistan and workplace stress are relevant, and the conclusion reinforces your position. This fits the task well overall, but the two sides are not developed equally. The reasons for accepting a bad situation are explained in more detail, whereas the case for trying to improve it relies mainly on general claims about well-being and new opportunities. The reference to research is not supported with a specific finding. To strengthen the response, explain how improvement might happen and give a concrete example, while also acknowledging a possible risk or limitation.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, separate paragraphs for the two views, and a conclusion. The progression from reasons for accepting a situation to reasons for changing it is easy to follow, and signposts such as “On the other hand” and “In conclusion” make the organisation clear. This meets the lower-band expectations securely and shows some features of stronger progression. However, links between ideas within paragraphs can feel mechanical, particularly the repeated “This is because” and “Secondly.” The sentence beginning “It is evident” largely restates the preceding explanation rather than advancing it. Use a wider range of linking methods, and make references such as “this situation” or “these risks” explicit so each sentence connects more naturally to the point before it.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use enough topic-related vocabulary to discuss employment, finances and well-being, including “financial security,” “employment rate,” “comfort zone” and “opportunity.” These choices make the main ideas understandable, and there are attempts at more formal phrasing, such as “a matter of considerable debate.” However, the range and control are uneven: several expressions are inaccurate or awkward, including “more worse,” “accept shortage of money as their luck,” and “unsatisfaction at workplace.” Spelling errors such as “cuurent,” “potentional” and “assosiated” also reduce accuracy. Aim for precise, natural collocations and check spelling carefully; for example, describe people as “accepting their financial circumstances” rather than “accepting shortage of money as their luck.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt both simple and complex sentence forms, including a conditional explanation (“if they leave… they won't be able to secure a new job”) and a concession beginning “although.” Most of the argument remains understandable, but some grammatical errors recur and occasionally make sentences awkward. Examples include “While other believe,” where the subject and verb do not agree, “On of the primary reasons,” and “leaving a bad situation open new door,” which needs agreement and a plural noun. Articles and sentence construction also need attention in phrases such as “give ourselves life we deserve.” Practise checking each sentence for a clear subject and correctly matched verb, then review articles and singular/plural forms. More accurate complex sentences would help you express the relationships between causes, risks and outcomes clearly.
