Student answer (Band 6.0)
People often argue that accepting a worse situation is better, such as job dissatisfaction or money crisis. While others believe that people should try to improve their situations. I believe that it is important to improve a situation rather than accepting all the worse situations.
On the one hand, supporters of accepting bad situations argue that it is a better way to handle bad situations by accepting all bad situations, such as job dissatisfaction or money crisis. People often think it is an easy way to avoid conflict or unnecessary stress, they can focus on the positive aspects of their lives. For example, some offices pay low salary but provide a good environment, and some people accept a lower salary because of peasefull environment. In addition, some situations are beyond their control, so they accept a bad situation.
On the other hand, I believe that people should try their best to change their situations rather than accept a bad situation. because without trying people can not achieve anyting in their lives. Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
The response addresses both views and gives a clear opinion: you favour trying to improve a situation while accepting what cannot be changed. The two body paragraphs are relevant, and examples such as accepting lower pay for a pleasant workplace and developing skills to find better work help illustrate the discussion. This meets the core requirements well. However, some points are asserted rather than fully explained. For instance, the claim that accepting a situation helps people focus on positive aspects could be linked more clearly to when acceptance is sensible, while the job-search example would benefit from a more specific explanation of how skill development leads to improved prospects. Extending these ideas and making the contrast between acceptance and action more precise would strengthen the response.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The essay has a clear overall structure: an introduction, separate paragraphs for the two views, and a conclusion that restates your position. Signposting such as “On the one hand,” “On the other hand,” and “In conclusion” makes the progression easy to follow. The main ideas are generally grouped appropriately, and the conclusion brings the two positions together. Some connections are less smooth, however. The opening sentence of the second body paragraph begins “because” after a full stop, leaving the relationship between the sentences awkward. The first body paragraph also moves quickly from avoiding stress to workplace conditions and then to circumstances beyond one’s control. Use clearer links to show how each example supports the paragraph’s main point, and vary transitions so the structure feels less formulaic.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use vocabulary relevant to the topic, including “job dissatisfaction,” “unnecessary stress,” “financial situation,” and “personal growth.” These choices communicate the main ideas, and phrases such as “beyond their control” are appropriate. However, the range and precision are limited by repeated wording such as “bad situation” and by several inaccurate or unnatural expressions. “Money crisis” and “get job easily” do not sound natural in this context, while “peasefull environment” contains a spelling error. There are also errors in forms such as “anyting” and “Therefor.” Aim to use more precise collocations and check spelling carefully; this would make the argument clearer and more fluent without changing its meaning.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
The response includes both simple sentences and attempts at more complex structures, such as “although accepting a bad situation can provide certain benefits” and the clause beginning “because without trying…”. Most ideas remain understandable, but some sentence structures and grammatical forms are not controlled consistently. For example, “People often think it is an easy way to avoid conflict or unnecessary stress, they can focus…” joins two independent clauses with only a comma. The opening “While others believe…” is also a fragment, and “can brings” and “for improve” show problems with verb forms and infinitive patterns. Review sentence boundaries, subject–verb agreement, and verb patterns, then proofread for punctuation. More accurate control of these structures would make the argument easier to read.
