Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 3.5
You state a clear preference for improving difficult circumstances, saying, “I strongly agree that you can improve your situation,” and you begin to introduce the effort this may require. However, the response only briefly addresses the view that people should accept hardship and does not develop reasons or relevant examples for either side. The example beginning “you can graduate in your job” is unfinished, so it cannot support the argument. The response also contains 143 words, below the required 250, leaving the discussion substantially incomplete. To address the task more fully, explain why acceptance might sometimes be sensible, develop your own position with a complete example, and write a conclusion that brings the views together.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.0
There is an identifiable opening and you signal a contrast with “On one hand,” which gives the reader some sense of how you intend to organise the discussion. Your opinion is also placed near the beginning. However, the response stops during an example, so there is no completed development, second viewpoint paragraph, or conclusion to create an overall progression. Several ideas are joined in a long opening sentence with commas, making the relationships between them difficult to follow. Build separate paragraphs for the two views and your opinion, and use clear links such as “By contrast” and “For example” only where they accurately show the connection. Complete each paragraph with a developed point rather than leaving the reader at an unfinished clause.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You attempt vocabulary relevant to the topic, including “accept the situation,” “improve,” “mindset,” and “hard work,” so the main subject is generally recognisable. There is also some effort to express an abstract idea through “a mindset of winners.” However, the range is limited in this short response, and several word choices or forms are inaccurate or unnatural, such as “commun issue,” “batter,” “confortable,” and “enhance such situation.” These errors sometimes make the reader pause to interpret your meaning. Aim for accurate, natural collocations and check spelling carefully; for example, “improve one’s circumstances” is more idiomatic than “enhance such situation.” Developing the response would also give you opportunities to use more precise vocabulary for both acceptance and change.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
You attempt to combine ideas using clauses, as in “even if it is a bad” and “if you just accept the pain,” rather than relying only on short simple sentences. However, control is inconsistent, and several sentence structures are incomplete or difficult to follow. For example, “some people argue … while others people believe that is batter” lacks a clear grammatical structure in the second clause, and “this require a mindset” has a subject–verb agreement error. The final phrase, “for instance you can graduate in your job if w,” is unfinished. Comma splices and inconsistent capitalisation also affect readability. Practise writing complete sentences with clear subjects and verbs, then check agreement, articles, and punctuation before submitting.
