Student answer (Band 6.0)

Several individuals believe that accepting a bad situations is bettter for them, sach as an unsatisfactory, while the other individuals think that it is better to try and enhence several situations. From my perespective, although accepting reality is sometimes necessary, making efforts to enhence oue life is a better choice.

On the one hand, accepting a bad situation can help people to feel less stressed. Sometimes, indiduals face a lot of difficulties but worry about them does not solve anything. Foe example , a person who losses their job during an economic crisis may have to accept the situations insted of becoming frestated .Similarly, people how have small finantial resource may need to manage their expenses carefully.

On the other hand, I believe that trying to improve a difficult situation is more beneficial in the long term. If people accept every problem without taking action, they may miss valuable opportunities. For instance, someone who is unhappy with their job can learn new skills, gain qualifications or search for a better position. In the same way, people who struggle financially can improve their knowledge and develop new abilities to find better employment. These efforts may not bring immediate results, but they can lead to a more successful and comfortable life.

In conclusion, accepting difficult situations can sometimes reduce stress and help people deal with reality. However, I believe that people should make reasonable efforts to improve their circumstances rather than simply accepting them. A positive attitude, hard working and patience can help people to achieve a better future.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

You address both views and state a clear opinion: accepting reality may sometimes be necessary, but making efforts to improve life is preferable. The two body paragraphs stay relevant, and the examples of job loss, managing expenses, gaining qualifications, and seeking better employment support the discussion. This gives the response a solid, complete foundation. However, the first view is less fully explored: the job-loss example explains acceptance during a crisis, but the financial example mainly describes careful budgeting rather than why accepting the situation may be best. The argument for improvement is more developed, especially through practical steps and long-term benefits. To strengthen the response further, explain the limits or circumstances of each approach and extend the less-developed side with a clearer reason or example.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, separate paragraphs for the two views, and a conclusion that restates your position. The progression from short-term stress reduction to long-term improvement is easy to follow, and signposts such as “On the one hand,” “On the other hand,” and “In conclusion” help orient the reader. This is a coherent arrangement, though some linking is rather formulaic. Within the first body paragraph, the examples are placed one after another without fully explaining how the second supports acceptance. The transition “Similarly” also suggests a close parallel that could be made clearer. Use more precise links between claims and examples, and add brief explanatory sentences so that connections are explicit rather than relying mainly on standard paragraph markers.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use relevant vocabulary for the topic, including “economic crisis,” “valuable opportunities,” “qualifications,” and “immediate results.” These choices help communicate the main ideas, and there is some attempt to use less basic language. However, spelling errors and imprecise word choices are noticeable, including “bettter,” “enhence,” “perespective,” and “finantial.” Some expressions are also unnatural or unclear, such as “small financial resource” and “a bad situations.” These issues make the vocabulary less controlled and can briefly distract the reader, even though the overall meaning remains understandable. Work on accurate spelling and natural collocations, and check whether nouns are countable or plural. Building a bank of topic phrases for employment and personal finances would also help you express ideas more precisely.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt a mix of simple and complex structures, including a concession in the introduction (“although accepting reality is sometimes necessary”) and conditional sentences such as “If people accept every problem…”. Most ideas remain understandable, but some grammatical errors recur. For example, “worry about them does not solve anything” has a subject-form problem, while “people how have” and “someone who losses their job” contain errors in relative clauses and verb forms. There are also issues with articles, plurals, and sentence punctuation, as in “a bad situations” and the spacing around “Similarly.” These errors do not generally prevent communication, but they limit accuracy. Review subject–verb agreement, relative pronouns, and singular/plural forms, then proofread sentence boundaries and punctuation.
