Student answer (Band 5.5)

notes: bad situation not enough oppurtunities, family needs

good situation: improve skills to find good job, make money

People believe the point that accepting bad situation is good instead of cry everytime. In contrast, other has distinct point that try to make situation worthliving. I will be discussing both points although my perspective is that everybody should not loose hope and try to make new improvements in their situation.

Starts from the peoples' view of accepting bad situation for example unsatisfactory job or financial issues as they believe that its good approch to handle difficult situation instead of improving. For instance, if someone quit their job as their expectations were not fulfilling there and their salaries were low, then how could they feed their family or fulfill their needs? what if they don't find another job easily, as unemployment is considerable issue nowadays. So, they restrict to bad situation and live like that.

In contrast, some people have contradictory viewpoint for this situation. They believe that Improving is better than living in a nuttshell. As we should seek opportunities and go behind them as we want to make our lives better. we should gain practical skills that are in demand and make our technical skills better for better job opportunities.

From my perspective, we should improve our living as lesser salary just make both ends meet. If we want to build strong future than we should work hard and don't stick to one job or one skill. We should gain more practical skills and grab more opportunities in big companies despite quiting job. we should not quit job untill we are sure about new opportunities.

So overall, the point is that we should not stick to one bad situation, however we should work hard to make our future better.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You discuss both views and state a consistent opinion: you recognise why people may stay in an unsatisfactory job to support their family, while arguing that people should seek skills and better opportunities. The example about unemployment and the risk of not finding another job is relevant, and your advice not to resign until a new opportunity is secure adds a practical qualification. However, the two sides are not developed equally: the reasons for accepting a bad situation are mainly presented as one job-related example, and the case for improving circumstances is stated broadly rather than supported with a specific illustration. Explain more fully when acceptance may be sensible and show how gaining skills could lead to a better outcome.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, separate paragraphs for the two views, your opinion, and a conclusion. This makes the overall line of argument easy to follow. You also use signposts such as “In contrast” and “From my perspective” to show changes in direction. At times, however, the links feel mechanical or the references are unclear: “this situation” is repeated without always specifying which situation, and “So overall” repeats the conclusion rather than adding a final implication. Some sentences also contain several connected points, making the progression less smooth. Use clearer topic sentences and connect each example directly to the claim it supports.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some relevant vocabulary for the topic, including “financial issues,” “unemployment,” “practical skills,” and “job opportunities.” These choices help communicate the main ideas, but the range is limited and several inaccurate or unnatural expressions reduce precision. For example, “make situation worthliving,” “live in a nuttshell,” and “restrict to bad situation” do not express the intended meaning clearly; “approach” is also misspelled in “approch.” Repetition of “situation,” “job,” and “improve” further limits variety. Build a more precise set of phrases for accepting circumstances, seeking change, and improving employment prospects, and check spelling and collocations before submitting.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including conditional questions such as “what if they don't find another job easily” and a clause beginning “although my perspective is…”. The main message is generally understandable, but some grammatical errors and punctuation problems remain. For instance, “other has distinct point” lacks appropriate plural and article forms, while “everybody should not loose hope” has an incorrect verb form for the intended meaning. The sentence beginning “For instance, if someone quit their job” also shifts awkwardly between a conditional clause and a question. Improve control of articles, subject–verb agreement, and sentence boundaries, and revise long sentences so that each clause is grammatically complete.
