Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5

The response touches on both accepting hardship and trying to improve one’s circumstances, and it offers a relevant view that people should keep trying while governments address unemployment and economic problems. However, the discussion does not clearly explain the case for accepting a bad situation as distinct from persevering to change it. The opening focuses on learning to survive, but this idea is not developed with a clear reason or example. Much of the response shifts to government responsibility, which is relevant but does not fully answer the comparison in the prompt. The writer’s own position becomes clearer only near the conclusion. To strengthen the response, explain each view separately, support each with a specific example, and state the personal opinion clearly from the introduction onward.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5

There is some organisation: the response begins with a general statement, uses transitions such as “First and foremost” and “Moreover,” and ends with a concluding sentence. However, the progression between ideas is difficult to follow. The paragraph beginning “Moreover” moves from accepting challenges to family relationships, then to unemployment and government action, without clear links between these points. Several ideas are repeated, especially the recommendation that government should improve the economy and provide jobs. Paragraphing is also limited, so the two views and the writer’s opinion are not clearly separated. Organise the essay into distinct paragraphs for each viewpoint and the conclusion, and use linking phrases that show the relationship between ideas rather than simply introducing another point.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The response uses some topic-related vocabulary, including “unemployment,” “shortage of money,” “challenging time,” “corruption,” and “economy,” so the main subject is generally understandable. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate, such as “achieve the goal,” “make ourselves as well as parents to proud,” and “provide a jobs.” Repetition of “people,” “situation,” and “government” also reduces variety. Spelling errors, including “diffcult,” “acheive,” “soceity,” and “Conquesently,” are noticeable and can interrupt reading. Build a more precise set of phrases for discussing hardship and responses to it, and check spelling and collocations when editing.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The response attempts some longer sentence forms, for example, “These factors makes the individual to learn about the diffculties as well as how to survive,” and uses clauses beginning with “who” and “which.” However, the range remains limited, and complex attempts are often faulty. Agreement errors occur in “These factors makes,” while “It is widely acknowledge that the people who accept…” is an incomplete construction. Other problems include “These type of individual,” “people have not a good bonding,” and missing or misplaced punctuation that makes sentence boundaries unclear. These errors sometimes make the intended relationships between ideas difficult to understand. Practise building accurate simple sentences first, then combine them using subordinate clauses, checking subject–verb agreement, articles, and complete sentence structure.
