Student answer (Band 6.0)

Humans have tendency to sometimes accept any bad outcome and move on whereas some people take it as an oppurtunity to work on themself and improve the situation. In my opinion instead of accepting bad situations, people should try to improve the outcome and situation.

On the first hand, people who have tendency to accept bad situations and blame it on luck lacks the self-confidence in themselves and tries to move on from the situation such as unsatisfactory jobs, money shortages or relationship issues. People have tried their best to overcome these situations and failed everytime resulting in their loss of self confidence and backing out from such situations, and so they start accepting bad situations. Which demotes theri morale and creates a mentality of always accepting bad situations and moving on from them.

On the other hand, people with higher self confidence and unshakeble morale keeps improving themselves, which elevates their mindset and spirit, and when they start achieving things in their life, the bad situations vanishes like horns of a donkey. Therefore, these people believes that improving such situations with hardwork and self determination should be the primary goal of any human being. For example, we all know the hardwork and confidence of IPS Manoj Kumar, from the movie 12th fail, who despite failing in his higher secondary exams, opted for UPSC. IPS Manoj Kumar with his sheer determination and unvavering mindset cleared the exam and became IPS officer.

In conclusion, bad situations like money shortages and unsatisfactory jobs are the moments that tests a person and his endurance of the situation, instead of giving up on the situation and accepting the outcome, a person should become confident and determined to work hard in order to improve the bad situations.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

You address both views and state a clear opinion: the introduction favours trying to improve difficult circumstances, and the conclusion reinforces this position. The discussion of acceptance is relevant, especially the idea that repeated failure can reduce confidence, while the example of Manoj Kumar supports the case for persistence. This meets the task well overall. However, the two sides are not developed equally: acceptance is mainly explained as a response to lost confidence, with little consideration of why accepting a situation might sometimes be sensible or protective. The example also illustrates determination more than it explains how people can improve situations such as low income or an unsatisfactory job. Developing these points would make the response more complete and persuasive.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The response has a clear overall structure, with an introduction, separate paragraphs for the two views, and a conclusion. Transitions such as “On the first hand,” “On the other hand,” and “In conclusion” make the progression easy to follow, and the example is placed in the paragraph supporting improvement. Some cohesion is nevertheless mechanical, and ideas within paragraphs are occasionally repetitive: the first body paragraph repeats the idea of accepting and moving on, while the final paragraph restates the opinion without adding much synthesis. The reference in “these situations” is also broad, and the long sentence beginning “People have tried their best” carries several connected ideas. Use more varied links and clearer sentence-level progression to make the organisation feel more natural.

Lexical Resource: Band 6.0

You use an adequate range for the topic, including phrases such as “self-confidence,” “self-determination,” “shortage of money,” and “sheer determination.” These choices help communicate the contrast between resignation and effort. There are also attempts at more vivid language, but some expressions are inaccurate or too informal for an academic essay. “The bad situations vanishes like horns of a donkey” is an unclear idiom, and “work on themself” is not a natural way to express personal improvement. Spelling errors such as “oppurtunity,” “unshakeble,” and “unvavering” also reduce accuracy. Aim for precise, conventional collocations and check spelling; this will make your vocabulary more reliable without requiring unnecessarily complex wording.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt both simple and complex sentence forms, including clauses with “whereas,” “which,” and “despite,” so there is some structural variety. The main ideas remain understandable, but errors in agreement, articles, and sentence boundaries are noticeable. For example, “people … lacks” should use a plural verb, and “these people believes” should be “these people believe.” The opening “Humans have tendency” needs an article, while “Which demotes their morale” is a sentence fragment. The conclusion also joins two complete ideas with a comma, creating a run-on sentence. Review subject–verb agreement and practise separating or correctly linking clauses. More consistent control of these patterns would make the complex sentences clearer.
