Some people believe that it is best to accept a bad situation, such as an unsatisfactory job or shortage of money. Others argue that it is better to try and improve such situations.

Discuss both these views and give your own opinion.

Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience.

Student answer (Band 6.5)

It is believed that a person should be satisfied with the given circumstances whether a hectic job or unstable financial condition. Nevertheless, it is not the complete truth to be accepetd. By contrast, a person should try his/her best with dedication and resilience, to counter the issues which bother him/her.

The main arguement regarding the acceptance of an unsatisfactory or bad situation is that something is better than nothing. For instance, I am working for a firm as a veterinarian under unfavorable conditions and if I decide to quite that job, then I have to face the unemployment, which in result, will create more worst conditions for me. I will run out of money and depend upon someone for my needs.

But the counter arguement is that all professionals have the right to seek better opportunities to earn more and transform their life styles. For example, if I continue my work without considering about a new opportunity to learn and grow, then the result woud be that I will never able to build my career and fullfil my dreams and I have to show myself satisfied with my days and nights. It will not only affect my status in my community but also disturb me physically and mentally.

In my opinion, a person must explore bigger opportunities as everyone has the right to do so. But taking risk without completely analyzing the situation would lead towards regret. If you get a chance to prove yourself, go fot it, but calculate all the risk factors before resigning from the work you already have in your hands.

In conclusion, for better growth you have to come out of your comfort zone to achieve your worth.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

You address both views and give a clear opinion: accepting a job may prevent unemployment, while seeking better opportunities can support career growth. Your personal examples make the discussion relevant, and the final advice to assess risks before resigning adds a useful qualification. This meets the task well, with some elements developed more fully than others. The acceptance argument is mainly about the financial consequences of quitting, while the case for change includes career, social, and mental effects; these points would benefit from more explanation or a specific illustration. To strengthen the response further, explain when accepting a difficult situation might be sensible and how someone could improve it without taking an immediate, high-risk step. Your position is clear, but fuller development would make the discussion more complete.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 7.0

The response has a clear overall progression: it introduces the issue, presents the acceptance view, contrasts it with the case for improvement, states your opinion, and concludes. Paragraphing helps distinguish these stages, and signposts such as “For instance,” “But the counter argument,” and “In my opinion” make the line of discussion easy to follow. This is a logical and coherent arrangement. At times, however, the linking is somewhat formulaic, and the relationship between ideas could be made more precise. For example, the conclusion’s “come out of your comfort zone” does not fully reflect your earlier caution about risk. Use transitions that show the exact relationship between claims, and connect the conclusion more directly to your balanced position.

Lexical Resource: Band 6.0

You use an adequate range of vocabulary to discuss employment, finances, and personal development, including “unfavorable conditions,” “better opportunities,” “career,” and “risk factors.” Some less common expressions are attempted, but several choices or spellings are inaccurate or unnatural, such as “quite that job,” “more worst conditions,” “transform their life styles,” and “show myself satisfied.” These do not prevent the reader from understanding your main points, but they limit precision and naturalness. Aim to learn vocabulary in common combinations and check spelling carefully. For instance, “quit a job,” “worse circumstances,” and “improve one’s quality of life” would express your intended meanings more naturally.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0

You use a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, including conditional structures such as “if I decide to… then I have to face…” and “If you get a chance…”. These allow you to explain consequences and give advice, and your meaning is generally clear. Some grammatical errors remain, particularly with sentence construction and verb forms. For example, “I will never able to build my career” needs “will never be able,” while “the result would be that I will…” mixes conditional forms. The opening sentence also has an unclear structure around “whether a hectic job or unstable financial condition.” Work on complete, parallel constructions and consistent tense choices in conditional sentences. More accurate control of these patterns would improve the overall reliability of your writing.
