Student answer (Band 5.5)

I believe this argument can vary to situation, there are two type of situations people face in their lifes, like some human made situations are not something we only just need to accept but also aks ourselves that why, where and when the situation went wrong. while second one is natural, this situation does not have any direct connection of human decision.

we have learn from history that treaty of Versailles and great depression was the main causes who created situations for WW II [redacted phone]. this bad situations were directly link to the human decisions, where wrong decisions and short term plans caused a catrosphic situations. this shows that we need to think strategies, and manage our plans according to the situations, plans should be fixable, so that situation can not ruin the planning but change it.

second, it is merely impossible to change or stop a natural disaster, like accidents and floods. nature ralted situations are sudden that's why we do not get that time to response.

however, i believe that accepting bad situation is a very good think, but we should not only accept the situation. we must think about it and try to resolve the situation through good planning and strategic planning. like, a war can not be win untill you do not have better strategy. we need to handle our thinks through a proper planning, managing and step by step achieving small goals. this can reduce the chance of any bad situation. we can say that both things are related to each other, like we do not accept our mistake or situation, how can we improve our situation.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You present a relevant overall view: accepting a difficult situation can be useful, but people should also try to improve it through planning. The examples about human decisions and natural disasters show an attempt to explain when change may be possible. However, the response only partly discusses the two views in the question. The distinction between human-made and natural situations does not directly explain why someone might accept an unsatisfactory job or a shortage of money, and the natural-disaster example is not developed into a clear argument for acceptance. The historical reference to Versailles and the Great Depression is also difficult to connect to the question. To strengthen the response, address both views directly and support each with a relevant, specific example.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a basic overall shape, moving from an introduction to examples and then to your opinion, and paragraph breaks help separate the main points. Some linking expressions, such as “second” and “however,” signal changes in direction. Nevertheless, progression is not consistently clear: the discussion shifts from human-made situations to natural disasters and then to war strategy without explaining how each point answers the prompt. Connections between sentences are sometimes unclear, as in “this bad situations were directly link to the human decisions.” The conclusion repeats the idea of planning rather than clearly drawing together the two views. Organise the essay around the two positions in the question, use topic sentences, and make each example’s relevance explicit.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You attempt some topic-related vocabulary, including “strategies,” “natural disaster,” “treaty,” and “short term plans,” and these choices show an effort to discuss causes and responses. However, the range is limited and several inaccurate word choices or spellings make parts of the message difficult to follow, for example “catrosphic,” “fixable,” “nature ralted,” and “response” where a noun is needed. Phrases such as “good think” and “handle our thinks” are also unclear or unnatural. Aim for accurate, natural collocations rather than repeating general words such as “situation” and “planning.” Learning phrases for employment and finances would also help you address the specific examples in the prompt.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more complex sentences, including a conditional question such as “if we do not accept our mistake or situation, how can we improve our situation.” However, control is inconsistent, and errors occur frequently enough to make some sentences difficult to understand. Examples include “there are two type,” “we have learn,” and “a war can not be win,” which show problems with plurals, verb forms, and passive constructions. Sentence boundaries and capitalisation are also unreliable, particularly where a new sentence begins with “while” or “this.” Practise building accurate basic sentences first, then add subordinate clauses. Check subject–verb agreement, past and present verb forms, articles, and punctuation when editing.
