Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience.
Student answer (Band 6.0)
In various nations, individuals do not recycle their waste as well as they can. The reasons will be discussed including the solution to these ploblems.
To start with, lack of incentives given to individuals who saved up their waste and trashed in the waste can. Before now there was a policy created to pay people some cash when they dispose their solid waste like cans and used containers, which were granted to such individuals at the spot of rubbish disposal. But, for few years now the government had refused to pay them making them reluctant to dispose their waste effectively for recycling. In addition, the amount of time it takes for people to carry their waste to the designated area for disposal. Many people find it difficult to do so. For instance, the elderly who have mobility health challenge, finds it hard to carry their waste to the area mapped out for waste disposal especially those with multiple sclerosis who cant walk a far distance making it difficult to dispose their waste for proper recycling.
Futhermore, development of waste disposal policy by the goverment should be created. There should be a new law enabling top officials to appiont waste disposal drivers, equipping them with trainings and vehicles to move around from one house to the other to collect waste from people at their various houses. In addition, provision of waste bin in different colours like yellow, green, red, etc, should be offered free to people to encourage them more to trash their waste so that it can be easily transported to its final destination.
In conclusion, I am strongly of the opinion that lack of incentives, and amount of time is the reason people dont recycle their waste. Again, waste disposal bin provision and government policy developments on waste disposal will be the way forward.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You address both parts of the question by identifying reduced financial incentives and the difficulty of transporting rubbish, then proposing government collection services and free, colour-coded bins. The example of older people with mobility problems makes the access issue more concrete. However, the explanation of incentives is tied to a particular past policy and could clarify more generally why people fail to recycle; the claim that the government stopped paying is not fully explained. The proposed collection service is relevant, but its practical effect on recycling could be developed further—for example, explain how separate collection would ensure materials are sorted and reused. Your conclusion restates the main points, though it adds little beyond them.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, a paragraph on causes, a paragraph on solutions, and a conclusion. The progression from reasons to remedies is easy to follow, and signposts such as “To start with,” “In addition,” and “In conclusion” help guide the reader. This already gives the essay a coherent arrangement. To make the flow more natural and precise, avoid relying so heavily on formulaic transitions and connect related points more explicitly. For instance, the shift from the incentive policy to the time and distance problem could be smoother, while “Furthermore” introduces solutions without clearly signalling that the discussion has moved from causes. Some references, such as “these problems” and “its final destination,” could also be made more specific.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use relevant topic vocabulary, including “solid waste,” “designated area,” “mobility,” “recycling,” and “waste disposal policy,” so the main ideas are generally clear. There are also attempts at more specific language, such as “multiple sclerosis” and “colour” categories for bins. However, several word choices and collocations are inaccurate or awkward, including “saved up their waste,” “trashed in the waste can,” and “at the spot of rubbish disposal.” Spelling errors such as “ploblems,” “Futhermore,” “goverment,” and “appiont” also reduce accuracy. Aim for natural, precise phrases such as “sort household waste” and “collect rubbish from homes,” and check spelling carefully.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including a relative clause in “the elderly who have mobility health challenge” and a longer example explaining why distant disposal points are difficult to reach. The overall meaning is usually recoverable, but grammatical control is uneven, and several errors make sentences harder to process. For example, “the elderly … finds” has subject–verb disagreement, while “the government had refused” uses an unsuitable tense for a general or continuing situation. The opening fragment, “To start with, lack of incentives…,” also needs a complete main clause. Review articles, agreement, tense consistency, and sentence boundaries; breaking the long example into two sentences would improve clarity.
