Student answer (Band 6.0)
Nowadays, recycling rubbish is important for protecting the environment. However, In many countries, people do not recycle as much waste as they could. I believe this happen because of a lack of awareness and proper facilities. There are several way to solve this problem.
One major reason is that many people do not understand the importance of recycling. They often throw all types of rubbish into the same bin because they do not know how to separate plastics, paper and other materials. Another reason is the lack of recycling facilities. apart from this, in some areas, there are not enough separate bins, so people find it difficult to recycle their waste. For example, many people in Bangladesh throw plastic bottles and food waste together. As a result, useful materials are wasted every day. Some people also think recycling takes too much time and effort.
There are several ways to improve this situation. Firstly, governments should organise awarness compaign to educate people about the benefits of recycling. Schools can also tech children how to separate dfifferant types of waste. Secondly, local authorities should provide separate bins for plastic, paper, and other rubbis in the public places and residential areas. Moreover, Government can introduce fines for people who do not follow recycle rules. These steps may encourage more people to recycle regularly. These steps would encourage more citizens to recycle their waste.
In conclusion, a lack of awareness and recycling facilities are the main reasons why people do not recycle enough. Governments and educational institutions should work together to encourage recycling and protect the environment.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
The response addresses both questions: it identifies limited awareness and inadequate facilities as causes, then proposes education, more separate bins, and fines. The Bangladesh example helps illustrate the problem, and the conclusion restates the main points. These are relevant ideas, but some are less fully developed than others. For instance, the claim that people think recycling takes too much time is introduced without explanation or an example, while the proposed fines are not discussed in terms of how they would work or why they would be effective. To strengthen the response, explain the causes and solutions more fully and connect each proposal to a specific likely outcome.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The essay has a clear overall arrangement: an introduction, a paragraph on causes, a paragraph on solutions, and a conclusion. Sequencing words such as “Firstly,” “Secondly,” and “Moreover” make the progression easy to follow. However, cohesion is sometimes mechanical, and there is some repetition: “These steps may encourage more people to recycle regularly” is followed by the similar “These steps would encourage more citizens to recycle their waste.” The transition “Another reason is the lack of recycling facilities. apart from this” is also awkward, and the lowercase start after the full stop interrupts the flow. Combine or remove repeated points and use transitions that show the relationship between ideas more precisely.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
The vocabulary is adequate for discussing recycling, with relevant terms such as “separate bins,” “residential areas,” and “useful materials.” The response also attempts topic-specific expressions, but spelling and word-choice errors reduce precision: “awarness compaign,” “dfifferant,” and “rubbis” make some wording less controlled. “Follow recycle rules” is an inaccurate collocation, and “recycling rubbish” is repeated rather than varied. These errors do not prevent the reader from understanding the main message, but they limit the range and accuracy expected for stronger performance. Proofread spelling carefully and learn common collocations, such as “follow recycling regulations” and “raise awareness.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
The response uses a mix of simple and more complex forms, including a reason clause in “because they do not know how to separate” materials and a result link in “As a result, useful materials are wasted.” Most sentences communicate their meaning clearly. Some grammatical errors remain, however: “I believe this happen” should be “I believe this happens,” and “There are several way” should be “There are several ways.” Capitalisation and punctuation also need attention, as in “However, In” and the sentence beginning “apart from this.” The sentence “Government can introduce fines” also needs an article or plural form. Check subject–verb agreement, plurals, articles, and sentence starts during revision.
