Student answer (Band 6.5)

The recycling process play a vital role to protect our environment, but in many nations, citizens are not recycling their garbage as much as they should. This maybe because of lack of public awareness and insufficient recycling utilities. To solve these problem the governments should launch recycle campaign and upgrade their policies to help in recycling.

One of the major problem is that insufficient knowledge of recycling. people do not know the importance of separating the rubbish in 3 categories such as wet, paper and organic substance, they think it is time consuming. Furthermore, these problem happens due to insufficient recycling facilities. If people want to separate the garbage still it is not possible. For example, some parts of India, most of household has a single dustbin, and most of Indian keep a mixed rubbish in the dustbin.

To overcome these problems the government should start recycle campaign. The government provide knowledge regarding the importance of recycling and give an education to the students, so they could learn how to protect the environment. In addition, the government should change their policies for the environment. By providing incentives to the citizens for the helping in recycling. for instance, the Germany has launched recycle machine, in which if citizens submit a plastic bottle they will get the money.

In conclusion, people are not recycling their rubbish due to lack of recycle knowledge and insufficient recycle products. To solve these problem the government should provide education and campaign and provide incentives to their citizens for helping in recycling process.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5

The response addresses both parts of the prompt: reasons for low recycling rates and potential solutions. The ideas are relevant, such as the lack of public awareness and the absence of adequate infrastructure. However, the development is somewhat superficial. For example, the suggestion to 'upgrade policies' is vague and lacks specific detail. While the example of Germany is a good attempt at supporting the argument, the overall development of ideas remains at a basic level. To reach a higher band, you should expand on your points with more depth and provide more detailed explanations for your proposed solutions.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The essay is organised into clear paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the argument. There is a logical progression from the problem to the solution. However, the use of cohesive devices is somewhat mechanical and repetitive (e.g., 'In addition', 'Furthermore', 'In conclusion'). Additionally, there are some issues with referencing and flow, such as the transition between the lack of facilities and the example of India. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring that sentences flow more naturally into one another would significantly enhance the coherence of your writing.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks precision and variety. You rely on basic terms like 'rubbish', 'garbage', and 'recycling' repeatedly. There are also some minor errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'recycling utilities' (should be 'facilities') and 'recycle campaign' (should be 'recycling campaign'). To improve, try to incorporate more topic-specific vocabulary and collocations, such as 'waste management infrastructure', 'environmental sustainability', or 'incentivise participation'. The current range is sufficient to communicate your ideas, but it does not demonstrate the flexibility required for higher bands.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally distract the reader. Examples include subject-verb agreement issues ('The recycling process play', 'most of household has'), missing articles ('in some parts of India'), and incorrect pluralisation ('these problem'). While these errors do not completely impede communication, they are persistent throughout the text. To improve, focus on proofreading for basic subject-verb agreement and article usage. Increasing the variety of complex sentence structures while ensuring accuracy will also help you achieve a higher score.
