When sorting waste requires an unreasonable amount of effort or travel to distant recycling centers, individuals naturally default to the easiest option. Additionally, a profound lack of public awareness contributes to the problem. Many people remain ignorant of which materials are recyclable or misjudge the severe environmental consequences of their waste.
