Student answer (Band 6.0)
In modern times, the issue of recycling rubbish has become highly debatable. In this essay I will explain all sides of the arguments and provide which is the best option.
In response to the first question regarding why do you think this is, the primary reason is lack of awareness because, many people do not understanding what benefits of recycling, however, many individuals know who to recycling but they don't work it. Another reason is poor recycling facilities such as in many area, there are don't have any kind of recycle bins. Because of which people do not recycle their rubbish.
Regarding the second question what can be done to change this, the most significant explanation is public education campaigns because, the government and schools should consider the benefits of recycling. Furthermore, awareness campaigns can encourage people to develop good recycling habits.
In conclusion, people do not recycle enough because they are not aware of its importance and recycling facilities are limited. Governments can solve this problem by raising awareness and providing better recycling services.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response addresses both parts of the prompt (reasons and solutions), but the development is significantly hindered by the word count. At 175 words, the essay fails to meet the 250-word minimum requirement. Consequently, the ideas are underdeveloped and lack the necessary depth and supporting examples required for a higher band. While the position is clear, the brevity prevents a full exploration of the topic. To improve, you must expand on your points with specific examples, personal experience, or logical consequences to ensure the response is sufficiently detailed and meets the length requirement.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is organised into clear paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is somewhat mechanical and repetitive. For example, the transition 'Regarding the second question' is a bit clunky. While there is a logical progression from the problem to the solution, the lack of depth makes the overall flow feel thin. To improve, try to use a wider variety of linking words and ensure that your sentences are connected more fluidly rather than just listing points.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary used is generally adequate for the task but remains quite basic. Phrases like 'do not work it' and 'many area' are either unnatural or grammatically incorrect. There is little attempt to use less common or more precise vocabulary. To reach a higher band, you should aim to incorporate more topic-specific collocations related to environmental issues, such as 'sustainable waste management,' 'environmental degradation,' or 'incentivise recycling programs,' rather than relying on simple, repetitive language.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Examples include 'do not understanding what benefits of recycling' (should be 'do not understand the benefits of recycling') and 'there are don't have any kind of recycle bins' (should be 'there are no recycling bins'). The sentence structures are mostly simple, with limited attempts at complex sentences. To improve, focus on subject-verb agreement and the correct use of articles and prepositions. Increasing your control over complex sentence structures will also help improve your score.
