Student answer (Band 6.0)

In recent years, the issue of trash has become a widely debatable topic in various countries. In the preceding steps I will discus about the recycling of waste.

Firstly, waste treatment has been become a substantial problem. I think it should discuss on governmental and social level. For instance, in cities there are different kinds of rubbish like, industrial waste, households waste, sewerage waste and also organic waste(vegetables, forests) etc. Moreover, organic waste can be recycle at industrial level and at individual house. Furthermore, in rural areas farmer can make composite or organic fertilizer by aerobic method. Its really helpful for their crop production and plant growth.

Secondly, another perspective is people do not recycle their trash because of busy lifestyle. In addition, this modern era, its seem time consuming and not have much available waste to recycle. In over houses trash like plastic, glassware, wood, fibers material cannot be processed at home. That's why people just trash out unnecessary things. But my notion is, it could be the profitable business at small scale. Administrative authorities should spread awareness among people, for example, which kinds of waste can recycle and which kinds cannot. Also people have knowledge where to put trash. Many people put trash everywhere, which is an

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 250 words, reaching only 209 words. This significantly impacts the development of ideas, as the essay ends abruptly mid-sentence. While the response addresses both parts of the prompt—reasons for low recycling rates and potential solutions—the ideas are under-developed. For example, the suggestion that recycling could be a 'profitable business' is mentioned but not explained or supported with sufficient detail. The introduction is also somewhat informal and lacks a clear thesis statement. To improve, you must ensure you fully develop each point with specific examples and ensure the essay reaches the required length.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay uses some cohesive devices such as 'Firstly', 'Moreover', and 'Furthermore', which help to structure the argument. However, the progression of ideas is sometimes disjointed. The paragraphing is present but the second paragraph is quite long and contains a mix of different ideas that could be better separated. Additionally, the abrupt ending of the essay disrupts the overall flow and coherence. To achieve a higher band, focus on using a wider range of linking words more naturally and ensure that each paragraph has a clear, singular focus that leads logically to the next.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks the precision and variety required for higher bands. There is some repetition of basic terms like 'trash' and 'waste'. Some word choices are slightly unnatural, such as 'trash out unnecessary things' and 'make composite'. While the meaning is generally clear, the range of vocabulary is limited, and there is little evidence of less common or idiomatic language. To improve, try to incorporate more academic collocations and synonyms to avoid repetition and enhance the sophistication of your writing.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay contains a mix of simple and some attempted complex sentence structures. However, there are frequent grammatical errors, such as 'waste treatment has been become', 'it should discuss on', and 'its seem time consuming'. Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with the use of commas and the incomplete final sentence. These errors occasionally cause the reader to pause, though they do not completely impede communication. To improve, focus on subject-verb agreement, correct verb tense usage, and proofreading for basic sentence structure errors.
