In many countries, people do not recycle their rubbish as much as they could.

Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience.
Student answer (Band 6.5)
Disposing of unwanted things from the house is a regular thing for many people in their respective countries. However, this is not true to everyone and we can see that many people actually prefer to collect the valuables;even if not needed, and store them away instead of recycling it.
The reason behind the thinking of these people might be that, those particular items could be reused in the future if not at the moment. Instead of throwing them they could DIY ( do it yourself) later on or could serve another purpose. However, that is hardly the case and people keep piling up junk in their garage or spare rooms and later on when they move out or do deep cleaning, most of that stuff goes into bin and not even worth a penny or worthy enough to be recycled or used by someone in need. I have seen some places in videos and social media how people place unused or unwanted items outside their house free of charge and whoever wants them can just take them away.
This kind of lifestyle can be adopted by other countries and government bodies. To ensure that no one is throwing items in the bin after their expiry, government can make a body where they go house to house to help people understand the concept of Recycling and also instigating them to follow it. they should highlight the benefits of recycling and how people in need can benefit from it and it becomes a source of joy for the needy and nothing gets wasted and no one goes in a loss also.
To conclude this topic, i would say that recycling starts from your personal space, each and every person should first look around their rooms and areas and ensure that unwanted things are not getting wasted and to start implemeting the idea i shared above.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The response addresses both parts of the prompt: reasons for low recycling rates and potential solutions. However, the development is somewhat uneven. The explanation for why people do not recycle—hoarding items for potential future use—is clear, but the proposed solutions, such as government bodies going 'house to house,' are somewhat simplistic and lack depth. The essay would benefit from exploring broader systemic issues like infrastructure, public awareness campaigns, or economic incentives. While the ideas are relevant, they remain at a surface level, preventing the response from reaching the higher bands where more sophisticated, well-supported arguments are expected.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, each with a clear focus. There is a basic progression of ideas from the problem to the solution. However, the use of cohesive devices is somewhat mechanical and occasionally repetitive. For instance, the transition 'However' is used frequently, and some sentences feel disjointed due to awkward phrasing. Paragraphing is present, but the internal flow within paragraphs could be improved by using a wider variety of linking words and better referencing to connect ideas more fluidly. The concluding paragraph is a bit abrupt and does not fully synthesize the points made earlier.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing the writer to convey their meaning clearly. There are attempts to use topic-specific language like 'recycling,' 'disposal,' and 'unused items.' However, the range is limited, and there is a reliance on basic or informal phrasing, such as 'unwanted things,' 'stuff,' and 'junk.' There are also minor issues with word choice and collocation, such as 'instigating them to follow it' (which is not the ideal context for 'instigate') and 'no one goes in a loss.' To improve, the writer should incorporate more precise academic vocabulary.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, including punctuation issues (missing spaces after commas), subject-verb agreement errors (e.g., 'most of that stuff goes into bin'), and awkward phrasing (e.g., 'not even worth a penny or worthy enough'). The use of articles is inconsistent, and some sentences are run-on or lack proper structure. While these errors do not significantly impede communication, they are frequent enough to prevent the response from reaching a higher band. More attention to sentence construction and proofreading is needed.
