Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses both parts of the prompt, identifying reasons for low recycling rates and suggesting solutions. However, the development of ideas is limited. For example, the explanation regarding 'investment' and 'disease' is brief and lacks depth. The ideas are presented in a somewhat list-like fashion rather than being fully extended with clear examples or logical consequences. While the position is clear, the lack of detailed supporting evidence prevents the response from reaching a higher band. To improve, you should aim to expand on each point with specific examples or a more detailed explanation of the 'why' and 'how'.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organised into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or inaccurate, such as 'To commence with' and 'To put it in nutshell'. Some transitions are missing or awkward, making the flow between sentences feel disjointed. For instance, the transition between the causes and the solutions is abrupt. Paragraphing is present, but the internal logic within the paragraphs could be improved by using a wider variety of linking words and ensuring that each sentence clearly relates to the main topic of that paragraph.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks the precision and range required for higher bands. There are several instances of word-choice errors and awkward collocations, such as 'people are not attract towards that field' and 'people feels non-hygiene'. The repetition of basic terms like 'recycling' and 'business' limits the sophistication of the writing. To improve, focus on learning collocations (e.g., 'waste management' instead of 'manage the all type of waste') and using more precise academic vocabulary to express your ideas more effectively.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors throughout. Common issues include subject-verb agreement ('people feels'), article usage ('the all type of waste'), and sentence fragments or run-on sentences. Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with comma usage and capitalization. While these errors do not completely impede communication, they are frequent enough to distract the reader and indicate a lack of control over complex structures. Focusing on basic sentence construction and proofreading for subject-verb agreement would significantly improve your score.
