Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0
The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 250 words, reaching only 106 words. Consequently, the ideas are severely underdeveloped and the task is only partially addressed. The response does not provide a clear position or sufficient explanation for why recycling is low, nor does it offer concrete solutions as requested by the prompt. The content is fragmented and lacks the depth required for an Academic Task 2 essay. To improve, you must expand on your arguments with specific examples and ensure you address both parts of the prompt (reasons and solutions) in a structured manner.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 4.0
The essay lacks a logical structure. While there are attempts at paragraphing, the progression of ideas is unclear and disjointed. The use of cohesive devices is minimal and often misused, such as 'To embark upon' and 'After these', which do not function correctly as transition signals. The lack of a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and conclusion makes the text difficult to follow. To improve, focus on using standard linking words (e.g., 'Furthermore', 'Consequently', 'In addition') and ensure each paragraph focuses on a single, well-developed idea.
Lexical Resource — Band 4.0
The vocabulary is very limited and often inaccurate, which frequently impedes communication. Phrases like 'not full fit in the society' and 'rubbish their garbage' (using 'rubbish' as a verb) are non-standard and confusing. There is a lack of topic-specific vocabulary related to environmental issues or waste management. To improve, you should focus on learning collocations and the correct parts of speech for academic writing. Avoid using informal or incorrect terminology and try to incorporate more precise vocabulary related to the topic of recycling and sustainability.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.0
The response contains frequent grammatical errors that distort meaning. There are significant issues with subject-verb agreement ('population are grown', 'too many person are'), sentence structure, and punctuation. Many sentences are incomplete or run-on, making them difficult to parse. The range of grammatical structures is very limited, consisting mostly of simple, error-prone sentences. To improve, you must focus on basic sentence construction, ensuring that subjects and verbs agree and that sentences are clearly demarcated with appropriate punctuation. Practice writing simple, grammatically correct sentences before attempting more complex structures.
