Student answer (Band 6.0)
In numerous countries across the world, people do not recycle their rubbish in an efficient way or, sometimes, the do not recycle waistes at all. Despite the widespread idea that this lack of interest into recycling is a cultural problem of this countries, I am certain that the real causes can be identified in a combination of financial and social difficulties.
The first main reason, as far as I know, lies in the ruling class of this countries. Perhaps, in the majority of the cases, governments have not enough the economical resources and a well developed logistical framework; furthermore, many people have experencied that their governments are not able to dispose their wastes nor even recycling them.
In addition to that there is the fact that some countries have an abundance of oil and gasses and the production of brand new objects is often more affordable than reused their waste to produce what they need.
As regards the social problems there is the fact that, in this countries, climate changes, pollution and care for the environment is not a basic part of school programs as it is for Western countries; while younger generations do not learn about the importance of this subjects, older generations are grown in a different society where wastes were somethings useless and with no more value.
Personally I think that the first step that this countries should make is to implement in their school programs important subjects such as the human impact on nature, the environment and the idden potential of recyling wastes. Moreover, people should ask their governments to increase investments in this field and improve services related to wastes management: as far as I know, that is the only way to make recycling a priority for the ruling class.
In conclusion, I belive that this phenomenon is driven by social and financial factors and, different from what many people think, has nothing to do with cultural differences.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses both parts of the prompt: reasons for low recycling rates and potential solutions. The position is clear throughout. However, the development of ideas is somewhat uneven. While the financial and social arguments are relevant, the explanation regarding 'ruling classes' and 'oil and gas' is a bit generalized and could benefit from more specific examples or deeper analysis. The solutions provided are logical and directly address the identified problems. To reach a higher band, ensure that each point is fully extended with more concrete evidence or detailed reasoning rather than relying on broad assertions about government capabilities.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is logically organized with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and conclusion. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate distinct ideas. Cohesive devices such as 'In addition to that', 'As regards', and 'In conclusion' are used to guide the reader. However, there are instances where the flow is slightly mechanical, and some referencing is a bit repetitive (e.g., the frequent use of 'this countries'). Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring smoother transitions between sentences would enhance the overall coherence.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing the writer to express ideas clearly. There are some attempts to use less common vocabulary, such as 'logistical framework' and 'hidden potential'. However, there are several spelling errors ('waistes', 'experencied', 'idden', 'recyling') and minor word choice inaccuracies (e.g., 'reused their waste' instead of 'reusing their waste'). These errors do not impede communication, but they do prevent the response from reaching a higher band. Focusing on accurate spelling and more precise collocations will improve this score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay demonstrates a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the writer attempts complex sentences, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with articles ('the economical resources'), subject-verb agreement ('the do not recycle'), and pluralization ('this countries'). Punctuation is generally functional, but there are some awkward phrasings that slightly disrupt the flow. To improve, the writer should focus on mastering basic grammatical accuracy, such as article usage and plural forms, before attempting more complex structures.
