Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response addresses both parts of the prompt: reasons for low recycling rates and potential solutions. However, the development of ideas is inconsistent. The explanation regarding 'time' is somewhat generic, and the link between a 'sedentary lifestyle' and recycling habits is not clearly articulated, making the argument feel slightly disjointed. While the position is clear, the supporting examples, such as the mention of street animals, are not fully integrated into the main argument about recycling. To improve, ensure that each reason is directly tied to the core issue of waste management and that solutions are presented with more specific, actionable detail rather than general suggestions.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organised into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or inaccurate, such as 'There are several reasons to happen that' or 'There are number of preventive measures'. The progression of ideas is sometimes hindered by awkward phrasing and a lack of smooth transitions between sentences. Referencing is occasionally unclear, and the logical flow between the problem and the solution could be strengthened by using more sophisticated linking words to connect the arguments more naturally.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The range of vocabulary is limited and often imprecise. There are several instances of incorrect word choice and collocation, such as 'civics' (used to mean citizens), 'gedgets' (spelling error), and 'affective' (used instead of effective). While the meaning is generally conveyed, the lack of precision and frequent spelling errors ('appliences', 'ell') prevent the response from reaching a higher band. To improve, focus on learning the correct context for academic vocabulary and proofreading for common spelling mistakes.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The response contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede readability. Examples include 'Individuals denied to do recycle' (incorrect verb form), 'which will be resulting into lethargic' (grammatical structure error), and 'the waste is a part of human life which can not denied' (passive voice error). Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with comma usage. While the errors do not completely prevent understanding, they are frequent enough to be a significant distraction throughout the text.
