Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0

The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 250 words, reaching only 150 words. This significantly impacts the development of ideas. While the essay attempts to address both parts of the prompt—reasons for low recycling and potential solutions—the ideas are presented in a fragmented, underdeveloped manner. For instance, the suggestion that 'rubbish things like expire dress... can burn' is not a viable solution and lacks logical depth. The response is also incomplete, ending abruptly mid-sentence. Due to the severe under-length and lack of coherent argument development, the response does not fully address the task requirements.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 4.0

The essay lacks a clear structure. There is no introduction or conclusion, and the ideas are presented as a series of disconnected sentences rather than cohesive paragraphs. The use of cohesive devices is minimal and often misused, such as the repetitive and awkward use of 'for example' and 'if'. The progression of ideas is difficult to follow because the sentences do not flow logically from one to the next. The lack of paragraphing further hinders the reader's ability to track the argument, resulting in a disjointed and confusing text.

Lexical Resource — Band 4.0

The vocabulary is very basic and often inaccurate, which frequently impedes communication. There is a heavy reliance on simple, repetitive words like 'things', 'people', and 'many'. The student struggles with word choice and collocation, such as 'expire dress' instead of 'old clothing' or 'discarded items', and 'rappers' instead of 'wrappers'. The attempt to use more complex terminology is limited and often results in errors that make the meaning unclear. The range of vocabulary is insufficient to express ideas with any degree of precision or flexibility.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.0

The essay contains frequent grammatical errors that often obscure the intended meaning. There are consistent issues with subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'many people not have'), article usage, and sentence structure. The text consists almost entirely of simple sentences with incorrect punctuation and capitalization. Complex structures are largely absent, and where they are attempted, they are riddled with errors, such as 'if people apply this method on our daily life routine its make neat'. These persistent errors make the text difficult to read and demonstrate a very limited control over basic grammatical rules.
