Student answer (Band 5.5)
It is hard reality of life that many countries do not recycle their rubbish as much as they could despite ignoring environmental concern. Their are many reasons behind this increasing trend and some solutions are also proposed regarding to this.
The two main primary reasons are lack of awareness and inconvenience. Peoples in our society do not have much knowledge about recycling and problems related to environment. They thought that all waste is placed together and then decomposed it by various ways like burning, dug holes etc. They are unaware that all the waste should be thrown separately. For example: people through household waste along with plastic because they have no information about how waste is separated and how much plastic take time to decompose.
Their is also widespread of inconvenience in our society. Individuals find it difficult if they do not find recycle bin in their surroundings, they do not bother to through it away without separating it.
Their are many solutions to solve these problems. Government should promote awareness about recycling and environmental problems spreading nowadays like asthma, global warming, increasing pollutions and many water born diseases. Government should introduce different plans. Authorities should provide recycling facilities in every neighborhood and introduce laws that require people to separate their waste.
Public educations campaigns are also very essential. Schools can teach children about recycling, social media and advertisements can also promote ways, laws and importance of recycling. If people see that recycling is reducing pollution they will become more motivated.
In conclusion, low recycling rate is a major problem in many countries it can be solves by these different methods and environmental hazards can also be reduced to much extent.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response addresses both parts of the prompt: reasons for low recycling rates and potential solutions. The ideas are relevant, such as the lack of awareness and the inconvenience of facilities. However, the development is somewhat superficial. For instance, the explanation of why people do not recycle is repetitive, and the solutions, while practical, lack specific detail or depth. The position is clear throughout, but the essay would benefit from more nuanced arguments or concrete examples beyond general statements. Overall, it meets the requirements of the task but remains at a basic level of development.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, with a clear introduction, body paragraphs for reasons and solutions, and a conclusion. There is a general progression of ideas. However, the use of cohesive devices is somewhat mechanical and repetitive (e.g., 'Their are' used multiple times to start sentences). Referencing is occasionally unclear, and the transition between ideas could be smoother. While the paragraphing is appropriate, the internal cohesion within paragraphs lacks variety, making the flow feel slightly stilted at times.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks range and precision. There are several instances of word-choice errors and awkward phrasing, such as 'hard reality of life', 'through household waste' (instead of 'throw'), and 'water born diseases'. The student attempts to use topic-specific vocabulary like 'decomposed' and 'environmental hazards', but the overall range is limited. The errors in word form and spelling do not significantly impede communication, but they prevent the response from reaching a higher band score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors throughout. Common issues include subject-verb agreement ('Their are many reasons', 'Peoples in our society'), incorrect word order, and misuse of articles and prepositions. For example, 'they do not bother to through it away' contains both a spelling error and a grammatical misuse. While the meaning is generally clear, the frequency of these errors is noticeable and affects the overall fluency of the writing.
