Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses both parts of the prompt: reasons for low recycling rates and potential solutions. The ideas are relevant, such as the lack of awareness and the role of government intervention. However, the development is somewhat uneven. The example regarding Siena University is slightly unclear in its phrasing, and the explanation of the consequences of poor recycling could be more tightly linked to the main argument. While the position is clear throughout, the depth of analysis is limited, keeping the response at a Band 6 level. To reach a higher band, you should expand on your points with more precise explanations rather than just listing them.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, each with a clear focus. There is a progression of ideas from the introduction to the body paragraphs and the conclusion. You use some cohesive devices such as 'Moreover', 'For example', and 'In addition' to link your thoughts. However, some transitions are mechanical or slightly awkward, such as 'that exploit the nature as well as, the sea creature could harm'. Additionally, the referencing is occasionally unclear, which affects the flow. Improving the variety and naturalness of your linking words will help you achieve a higher score in this criterion.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'toxic rubbish', 'mitigate', and 'financial rewards'. However, there are several instances of imprecise word choice and collocation errors, such as 'information between people' (instead of 'among'), 'eliminate in easy way', and 'breather toxic air'. These errors do not prevent the reader from understanding your message, but they indicate a lack of precision. To improve, focus on learning common collocations and ensuring that your word choices are contextually appropriate for formal academic writing.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While you attempt complex sentences, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with verb forms and subject-verb agreement, such as 'government could implements', 'one of the main reason is', and 'the sea creature could harm' (should be passive: 'could be harmed'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, with some run-on sentences and misuse of commas. These errors are noticeable and occur throughout the text, though they rarely impede overall communication. You need to focus on proofreading for basic grammatical accuracy to improve your score.
