Student answer (Band 5.0)

DEAR SIR\MADAM

Pepole of many countries do not recycle their wastes because they do not have any facilities like other countries. They do not have such type of machines and other resources like other countries because their government did not provides the proper tools and funds for recycling.

In many countries the wastage is not properly recycled because these type of countries are poor and they do not have proper systems to recycle and reused the things. You can understand from this example that i given you. At the PAKISTAN their is not proper systems for recycling because it is a poor country butt they were sell the wastage to well countries that recycled and reused it. After this process they sell it again at heavy costs.

I can advise to my country that they have need to proper investments in this field. Because its cost is cheap and most profitabel. For this they have to install dustbins in every village and need to arrange the proper classes to villagers and other people that dont have knowledge about that. Many countries make a good business of recycling because they first buy the things that can be recycled at cheap cost. After this they first destroy this and again make the new things and then sell it at heavy costs.

From the all factors of this complex web i understand that knowledge of recycling is must delivered in pepole because it make the envoirment clean and the government need to work on recycling projrcts.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response addresses both parts of the prompt: reasons for low recycling rates and potential solutions. However, the development of ideas is limited. The explanation regarding why recycling is low is somewhat repetitive, focusing primarily on a lack of resources and government funding. The solutions provided—installing dustbins and education—are relevant but lack depth. The essay relies on a personal, informal tone (e.g., 'Dear Sir/Madam', 'i given you') which is inappropriate for an Academic Task 2 response. To improve, you should expand on your arguments with more detailed examples and maintain a formal, objective tone throughout.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay is organized into paragraphs, but the logical progression is weak. The transition between ideas is often abrupt, and the use of cohesive devices is mechanical or inaccurate (e.g., 'From the all factors of this complex web'). Referencing is sometimes unclear, such as the phrase 'these type of countries'. While the paragraphing is present, the internal flow of sentences lacks the sophistication required for higher bands. Improving the use of linking words like 'consequently', 'furthermore', or 'in addition' would help create a more cohesive argument.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is limited and repetitive, often relying on basic terms like 'things', 'good', and 'bad'. There are several instances of incorrect word choice and collocation, such as 'well countries' instead of 'developed nations' and 'wastage' used where 'waste' or 'recyclable materials' would be more appropriate. Spelling errors are frequent (e.g., 'profitabel', 'envoirment', 'projrcts'). To reach a higher band, you need to demonstrate a wider range of vocabulary and use it with greater precision, avoiding informal phrasing and common spelling mistakes.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The response contains a high frequency of grammatical errors, including subject-verb agreement ('government did not provides'), article usage ('at the PAKISTAN'), and sentence structure issues. The range of structures is limited, consisting mostly of simple or compound sentences with frequent errors that occasionally impede the reader's understanding. For instance, 'they have need to proper investments' is grammatically incorrect. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, verb tenses, and the correct use of articles before attempting more complex structures.
