Student answer (Band 5.0)
IN MANY COUNTRIES, THE AMOUNT OF RUBBISH CONSIDERABLEY LOWER THAN IT COULD BE. THIS IS MAINLY BECAUSE PEOPLE HAVE LAKE KNOWLADGE ABOUT SEPARATING GARBAGE AND PEOPLE FIND IT DIFFICULT TO SEPARATE THEIR RUBBISH.
PARTICULARLY WHEN IT COMES TO RECYCLE A GARBAGE PEOPLE DON'T UNDERSTAND THE IMPORTANE OF THE RECYCLING THEIR OWN GARBAGE. PEOPLE FIND IT DIFFICULT BECAUSE IN SOME CITIES RECYCLE BINS ARE NOT THAT EASILY ACCESIBLE SO PEOPLE FIND IT HARD TO RECYCLE SOME THINGS LIKE PLASTICS BOTTELES , CANS , CARDBOARD AND MUCH MORE. IN ADDITION PEOPLE THROW ALL THAT THINGS TO THE NORMAL BINS BECAUSE THEY DON,T UNDERSTAND THE CONSIQUANCEC OF THE ENVIRONMENT.
GOVERNMENT CAN CHANGE THIS THING TO PROVIDE SOME EXTRA RECYCL BINS TO RESIDANCE TO SEPARATE THEIR RUBBISH AND IN ADDITION OF THAT GOVERNMENT CAN RUN SOME PROGRAM RELATED TO HOW IMPORTANT IS TO RECYCLE THE RUBBISH. THEY HAVE TO RUN SOME PROGRAMME IN SCHOOLS AS WELL SO IT COULD BE A MORE IMPACTFUL BECAUSE CHILDREN'S ARE GOING TO BE A FUTURE . GOVERNMENT CAN PLACE SOME EXTRA RECYCLE BINS NEAR SCHOOLS, BUSINESES, HOUSES AND COMPLEX AND THEY CAN EVEN ADD SOME MORE RECYCLING FACILITY NEAR CITIES.
IN CONCLUSIO , THEY HAVE TO EDUCATE PEOPLE MORE ABOUT THIS AND HAVE TO RUN SOME PROGRAMME AND IN ADDITION TO PROVIDE BETTER FACILITY. MAINLY REASON IS LACK OF KNOWLADGE AND FACILITY SO NEED TO IMPROVE THAT. THAT ENCOURAGE THE PEOPLE TO RECYCLE THEIR RUBBISH.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response addresses both parts of the prompt: reasons for low recycling rates and potential solutions. However, the ideas are somewhat underdeveloped and repetitive. The essay falls short of the 250-word minimum requirement, which negatively impacts the overall task achievement. While the position is clear, the arguments lack depth; for instance, the suggestion to 'run some program' is vague. To improve, you should expand on your points with more specific examples or detailed explanations of how these solutions would function in practice to ensure the response meets the length requirement and provides a more comprehensive answer.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organized into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is mechanical and sometimes repetitive, such as the frequent use of 'in addition' and 'and'. There is a lack of sophisticated linking words to connect ideas smoothly. The progression of ideas is generally logical, but the transitions between sentences are often abrupt. To reach a higher band, focus on using a wider variety of cohesive devices and ensuring that each paragraph has a clear topic sentence that links back to the main argument.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is limited and repetitive, often relying on basic terms. There are frequent spelling errors that occasionally impede readability, such as 'considerabley', 'lake knowladge', 'importane', 'botteles', and 'consiquancec'. These errors demonstrate a lack of control over word formation. While the meaning is generally conveyed, the range of vocabulary is not sufficient to discuss the topic with precision. To improve, focus on learning the correct spelling of common academic terms and expanding your vocabulary related to environmental issues and government policy.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The essay relies heavily on simple sentence structures. While there are attempts at complex sentences, they are often marred by grammatical errors, such as 'children's are going to be a future' and 'government can change this thing to provide'. Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with comma usage and the incorrect use of apostrophes (e.g., 'don,t'). Frequent errors in subject-verb agreement and article usage are present throughout the text. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction and proofreading for common grammatical slips before submitting your work.
