Student answer (Band 6.0)
Nowadays, recycling trash is very significant factor for the world as it reduce environmental problems. But in various nations, citizen do not do recycle their garbage as much as they can. So the causes relating to this and the pragmatic solutions to curb this along with pertinent examples will be elucidated in the following paragraphs.
Out of all the causes, the predominant one why people do not recycle is because of lack of trash bins. To explain this, it can be elaborated that in several areas there is lack of trash bins due to which the individuals have to throw their trash in the street which can cause environmental problem. As a result, they are unable to do recycling. Secondly there is an absence of awareness regarding recycle. Many people do not know that they can recycle their wastes, this especially happen in rural areas as many of the person are uneducated, so they do not know about recycling. As a consequences, because they do not have knowledge regarding this they do not recycle.
To mitigate this issue, one pragmatic solution is to provide trash cans as many as possible. To exemplify this perspective, it can be elaborated that if there are various bins in several areas the people can know that they have to dump their waste in the trash bins, and the have to give bins for separate bins for various purposes, for instance blue bins for plastic waste, green for glass like bottles, red for dry garbage. Therefore after implementing this many people dump their garbage mainly on this bins and the recycle will increases.
To recapitulate, after analysing all the aforementioned ideas it can be inferred that lack of dustbins in some region and lack of awareness among people cause reduction in recycling process, to prevent this the authorities can increase the amount of dust bins in the areas and specify them from various purposes.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses both parts of the prompt: reasons for low recycling rates and potential solutions. The ideas are relevant, such as the lack of infrastructure and public awareness. However, the development is somewhat repetitive and lacks depth. For instance, the explanation regarding rural areas and education is a bit simplistic. While the position is clear throughout, the essay would benefit from more sophisticated examples or a more nuanced exploration of why these issues persist. The conclusion effectively summarises the main points, but the overall development remains at a basic level, preventing a higher band score.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organised into clear paragraphs, each with a distinct focus. There is a logical progression of ideas from the introduction to the causes, solutions, and conclusion. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'Out of all the causes', 'Secondly', and 'To mitigate this issue', though some transitions feel a bit mechanical or repetitive. Referencing is generally clear, although some sentences are slightly clunky, which occasionally disrupts the flow. Overall, the structure is coherent and easy to follow, meeting the requirements for a band 6.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The range of vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks sophistication. The student uses basic terms like 'trash', 'garbage', and 'bins' repeatedly. There are some attempts at less common vocabulary, such as 'pragmatic', 'elucidated', and 'aforementioned', but these are sometimes used in contexts that feel slightly unnatural or forced. There are also minor errors in word choice, such as 'recycle their garbage' (should be 'recycle their waste') and 'the recycle will increases' (should be 'recycling rates will increase'). The vocabulary is sufficient to convey meaning but does not show the flexibility required for higher bands.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. However, there are frequent grammatical errors that, while not impeding communication, are noticeable. Common issues include subject-verb agreement ('it reduce', 'many of the person are'), article usage ('the recycle'), and pluralisation ('amount of dust bins'). Complex structures are attempted, but they often contain errors, such as 'due to which the individuals have to throw their trash in the street which can cause environmental problem'. These errors indicate a lack of control over more complex grammar, placing the response firmly in the band 5.5 to 6.0 range.
