Student answer (Band 5.0)
People of many states do not recycle the garbage and it contain many disadvantage and this trash make the environment dirty. Below, I will give some reasons that helps me to explain it.
First of all, in many countries mostly people not recycle their garbage and throw it in the streets. Throwing rubbish in the streets and also on the highways attracts many diseases and also it make the environment unclean. For example in Africa, many people are not recycle their home garbage and send it on the roads.
Recently, in Nigeria a huge amount of people suddenly fell ill in diarrhea and mostly people died and researchers say's disease came due to garbage and also from hard breeze. Not recycling the trash also convince many other threats, for example, when people throw their rubbish in rural area then it attracts many dog and also other insects and when small children came in the streets then dogs attacked on them.
On the other hand, recycling the rubbish contain many facilities for population because home trash contain many used bottles, and many other plastic items and when this is recycled then that plastic bottles provided to public in low rate and also this helped in cleaning the cities and also rural area. Recycling make the environment safe and also protect us from dangerous diseases.
In conclusion, many people in the world not reuse the waste material. I think recycling the waste brings many advantages for people and also keep us away from diseases. So, the government needs to make many rules for recycling the garbage.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response addresses both parts of the prompt: reasons for low recycling rates and potential solutions. However, the development is limited. The reasons provided (lack of awareness or infrastructure) are somewhat repetitive and rely on anecdotal examples, such as the situation in Nigeria, which lacks sufficient detail to fully support the argument. The solutions offered in the conclusion are brief and lack depth. To improve, you should expand on the 'why'—for example, discussing the lack of government incentives or the inconvenience of sorting waste—and provide more concrete, actionable solutions beyond simply stating that the government should make rules.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organized into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or repetitive, such as the frequent use of 'and also' to connect ideas. Transitions between sentences are sometimes abrupt, and the logical flow within paragraphs could be improved. For instance, the transition from the health risks of garbage to the benefits of recycling is quite sudden. Using a wider variety of linking words (e.g., 'consequently,' 'furthermore,' 'in contrast') would help create a more natural progression of ideas.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is limited and often repetitive. You frequently use basic terms like 'garbage,' 'trash,' 'dirty,' and 'things.' There are also issues with word choice and collocation, such as 'hard breeze' (likely meaning strong winds or pollution) and 'convince many other threats' (likely meaning 'pose' or 'cause'). To reach a higher band, you should aim to use more precise terminology related to environmental issues, such as 'waste management,' 'sustainability,' 'sanitation,' or 'public health initiatives.' Expanding your range of synonyms will help you avoid repeating the same words throughout the text.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The essay contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. There are consistent issues with subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'mostly people not recycle,' 'disease came,' 'researchers say's'), article usage, and verb tense consistency. While you attempt some complex structures, they are often faulty, such as 'when small children came in the streets then dogs attacked on them.' To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, specifically ensuring that subjects and verbs agree and that tenses are used consistently throughout the essay. Reducing these frequent errors is essential for a higher score.
