Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response addresses both parts of the prompt: reasons for low recycling rates and potential solutions. However, the essay is slightly under the 250-word minimum, which impacts the development of ideas. While the points regarding lack of knowledge and government investment are relevant, they are somewhat underdeveloped. For instance, the mention of India is a good start but lacks depth. The conclusion is also quite abrupt. To reach a higher band, you should expand on your arguments with more detailed explanations or additional examples to ensure the response is fully developed and meets the length requirement.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organized into clear paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. You use some cohesive devices like 'Furthermore', 'Moreover', and 'In conclusion' to link ideas. However, the flow is occasionally mechanical, and some transitions feel abrupt. For example, the sentence 'It is also one' at the end of the second paragraph is incomplete and disrupts the logical progression. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring that every sentence is complete will help create a more natural and cohesive flow throughout the essay.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'waste management', 'optimise', and 'revenue'. However, there are several instances of inaccurate word choice and collocation, such as 'heavy relied on' (should be 'heavily reliant on'), 'government might have other priorities rather than providing' (should be 'priorities instead of providing'), and 'reuse scared resources' (should be 'scarce resources'). These errors do not prevent understanding, but they indicate a need for more precise control over word forms and collocations to reach a higher band.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. However, there are frequent grammatical errors that affect the accuracy of the writing. Examples include 'all the rubbish were thrown' (subject-verb agreement error), 'it's importance' (confusing 'its' with 'it is'), and 'government should be responsible for the changing' (incorrect article usage). Additionally, there are issues with verb forms, such as 'China recently earn' (should be 'earned'). While the meaning is generally clear, these persistent errors in basic grammar and punctuation limit the score.
