Student answer (Band 5.5)
A popular discussion in many nations is people do not recycle their waste as they could is to be found true in this essay all the points will be covered what is the reason for this problem and what can be done to improve or change it.
the root to this problem is in today's world people are day by day getting irresponsible for the task to dispose off their trash or rubbish as much they should, they just throw it here and there without even having a second thought which is leading to disastrous waste management among nations some wastes like plastic, carbon, rubbers are stubborn and hard to get disposed of certain measures like proper waste management should be applied like having different garbage bin for wet waste, plastic waste and dry waste but people nowadays tend to ignore all these important waste management ethics but sometimes only the normal people can not be put the blame for all this alone many corrupt government bodies ruling that nation are responsible too by not establishing proper waste disposal facilities like recycle factories or cleanliness awareness programs to educate people about the importance of recycling and disposing of waste properly resulting in the reason of this problem.
certain measures can be took to improve this problem and aware people about the need for recycling their trash like schools can educate their students about the importance of recycling and how it can help preserve cleanliness around their environment also certain awareness programmes like the "Swachh Bharat Abhiyan" in India can be launched by the government of not only India but other countries too so more people come to know about their waste management responsibilities and the need for recycling of their unwanted waste properly also many penalties can be imposed on the people who do not follow the process of proper waste management by charging heavy fines and warnings if they ever decide to litter their waste.
In conclusion the problem of people not recycling their rubbish is true but its not only their own fault the government and other institutions should spread awareness among people so people come to know about the importance of recycling their waste and certain measures can help change this by launching awareness programmes and educating people about the process of recycling.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses both parts of the prompt: reasons for low recycling rates and potential solutions. The ideas are relevant, such as individual irresponsibility and government failure, and the solutions include education and penalties. However, the development is somewhat superficial. For example, the mention of 'corrupt government bodies' is a strong claim that lacks specific evidence or logical connection to the recycling issue. The essay covers the requirements, but the arguments could be more nuanced and better supported to reach a higher band. The position is clear, but the overall development remains somewhat generic.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organised into paragraphs, but the internal structure is weak. The first paragraph is a single, run-on sentence that lacks proper punctuation. Cohesive devices are used, but they are often repetitive or mechanical (e.g., 'also', 'and', 'like'). There is a lack of sophisticated linking words to connect ideas between sentences and paragraphs. The referencing is sometimes unclear, and the flow of the argument is hindered by the lack of full stops, which makes the text feel like a series of loosely connected clauses rather than a cohesive academic argument.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks precision and variety. The student relies on basic terms like 'rubbish', 'trash', and 'waste' repeatedly. There are some attempts at less common vocabulary, such as 'disastrous waste management' and 'preserve cleanliness', but these are often used in slightly unnatural collocations. Spelling is generally accurate, but the range of vocabulary is limited, preventing the expression of more complex ideas. To improve, the student should focus on using more academic synonyms and precise collocations related to environmental issues.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The grammatical control is inconsistent. The most significant issue is the lack of sentence boundaries; the second paragraph is essentially one long, run-on sentence, which severely impacts readability. There are frequent errors in punctuation, such as missing commas and full stops. While the student attempts complex structures, they are often grammatically incorrect (e.g., 'certain measures can be took'). Simple sentences are generally clear, but the lack of control over complex sentence structures and punctuation errors means that the grammar often impedes the flow of the text.
