Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response addresses both parts of the prompt, exploring the reasons why people do not recycle as much as they could—such as a lack of knowledge, poor government facilities, and lack of motivation—and proposing solutions like awareness programs, separate bins, and strict fines. However, the development of ideas is limited and somewhat repetitive, particularly in the third paragraph where solutions are listed rather than fully extended. While the main points are relevant, the reasoning remains superficial in places, placing this performance securely at Band 5.0.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The essay is divided into paragraphs, but the overall organization shows weaknesses in logical progression. Transitional phrases like 'Initiating with points' and 'Moving further ahead' are unnatural and used mechanically. Paragraphing is attempted, but ideas within paragraphs are disjointed and lack smooth transitions. Referencing is sometimes unclear, and cohesive devices are frequently overused or inaccurate, such as repeating 'moreover' and 'furthermore' excessively. This results in a choppy reading experience that aligns with Band 5.0 descriptors.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary used is limited and repetitive, with basic terms like 'waste', 'recycle', and 'health' appearing constantly throughout the text. There are notable word-choice errors and awkward collocations, such as 'take strict rules for recycle bin' and 'interduce staff'. Although the intended meaning is usually decipherable, the range of vocabulary is restricted and minimally adequate for the task, which corresponds to a Band 5.0 level.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The text displays a very limited range of grammatical structures. Simple sentences dominate, and attempts at complex structures are frequently faulty or incomplete, such as 'if community do not follow any rules make strict policy of fees and fine'. Punctuation and capitalization are problematic throughout, with frequent capitalization errors after commas and periods. Grammatical errors are frequent, including missing articles, incorrect verb forms ('provide' instead of 'provided' or 'should provide'), and subject-verb agreement issues, causing difficulty for the reader and fitting the Band 5.0 criteria.
