Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response attempts to address both parts of the prompt, discussing why people do not recycle rubbish and offering potential solutions, such as gaining information and government awareness campaigns. However, the ideas are severely limited and under-developed, lacking sufficient support and relevant examples. Furthermore, the length requirement has not been met, as the response contains only 212 words, falling short of the mandatory 250-word minimum. This results in an incomplete treatment of the task. While the student outlines basic concepts like plastic and clothing recycling, the explanations remain superficial and repetitive, aligning best with a Band 5 score.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay displays some basic organisational structure with discernible paragraphing, including an introduction, body paragraphs, and a brief conclusion. However, there is a lack of clear overall progression. Cohesive devices are used awkwardly or repetitively, such as "To begin with," "An other reason," and "in conclusion." Referencing is also faulty at times, for example, "after use it they throw outside as a garbage." Paragraphs lack internal cohesion, and the mechanical transitions impede the flow of ideas. These features reflect Band 5 characteristics, where organisation is present but overall progression is hindered.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The lexical resource is limited and barely adequate for the task. The student attempts some less common vocabulary, such as "contemporary era" and "celebrities," but these are undermined by frequent spelling and word-choice errors, including "vreity" for variety, "thier" for their, "plastice" for plastic, "meterials" for materials, "waist" for waste, and "awarness" for awareness. Vocabulary repetition is also evident. While meaning can generally be extracted, the noticeable errors and restricted vocabulary range firmly place this response at Band 5.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.0

Grammatically, the response demonstrates a very limited range of structures. Simple sentences dominate, and attempts at complex or compound structures are consistently faulty, such as "this situation can be tackled by gaining information of recycling" and "the celebrities and actors trying to good look they buy more things." There are frequent errors in punctuation, capitalization, subject-verb agreement, and prepositions (e.g., spacing errors around commas, missing articles). These errors cause constant difficulty for the reader and restrict the score to Band 4.
