In many countries, people do not recycle their rubbish as much as they could.

Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience.
Student answer (Band 6.0)
The problem of not recycling rubbish is among the prominent issues of the modern world. From my perspective, people should recycle their trash as much as they can, because it will lead to reducing the hazardous consequences of its deposition on the environment.
The primary reason to support this initiative is that recycling of waste plays a vital role in reducing the emergence of pollutants in the ecosystem. A low recycling rate will lead to the emergence of contaminants in the ecosystem which could lead to the increase in the level of pollution which would ultimately cause various severe illnesses including hepatitis and lung carcinoma. In fact, the studies have observed a sharp decline in food borne and water borne diseases in countries that have implemented trash recycling rules and regulations.
The second motive to favor this narrative is that recycling will also lead to the development of more local products which will be beneficial for the country's economy as well. Additionally, the people can utilize recycled output material to synthesize new plastic bottles, shirts, and other essential equipment, at low cost.
To evolve this system, regulatory authorities should introduce laws and plans to attract people more towards recycling their rubbish. The Government can install recycling plants at the corner of each road which will also assist the people and reduce the commuting cost. In addition to this, companies should encourage their production units to enhance use of the recycled materials. The majority of the countries that have focused on the use of recycled ash as input material had experienced more profit with almost similar quality product. Although, recycled inputs have some drawbacks regarding the quality of product, their eco-friendly nature have outweigh them.
Overall, trash recycling is essential for maintaining the health of the environment. as far as i concerned, major issues related to healthcare have arisen due to the contamination and low recycling rate. However, recycled inputs are not as good as natural but that can be ignored while considering the benefits of recycled raw materials.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses all parts of the prompt, discussing both the reasons why people do not recycle as much as they could and offering actionable solutions. The introduction clearly states the writer's perspective regarding the environmental benefits of recycling. In the body paragraphs, the student explores reasons such as health impacts and economic benefits, although the second reason wanders slightly into the benefits of recycling rather than purely explaining why people fail to recycle. Solutions are then provided in the fourth paragraph, such as government infrastructure and corporate initiatives. Ideas are generally well supported, though some points tend to over-generalise. Overall, the task is successfully fulfilled, earning a solid band 6.5.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay displays a coherent overall arrangement with a logical progression of ideas from causes to solutions. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate distinct points, such as moving from health reasons to economic aspects and finally to regulatory measures. Cohesive devices are employed to link ideas, for instance using phrases like 'The primary reason', 'The second motive', and 'In addition to this'. However, some cohesive referencing and transitions feel slightly mechanical or repetitive, and the concluding paragraph contains a punctuation error ('environment. as far as i concerned') that disrupts the flow. These minor cohesion flaws place this criterion securely at band 6.5.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The student demonstrates an adequate and functional range of vocabulary suitable for an academic response. Less common lexical items are attempted, such as 'hazardous consequences', 'contaminants', 'hepatitis', and 'lung carcinoma'. However, there are notable word choice and collocation inaccuracies throughout the text, such as 'evolution of this system' instead of 'evolution' or 'development' in this context, and 'ash as input material'. Spelling and word formation are generally clear, though minor slips occur ('borne' instead of hyphenated 'borne', lowercase letters at the beginning of sentences in the conclusion). The lexical resource is sufficient for the task and aligns with a band 6.0.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The writer attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, demonstrating some control over relative clauses and conditional structures (e.g., 'countries that have implemented trash recycling rules'). However, grammatical errors are fairly frequent and occasionally detract from the reading experience. Examples include subject-verb agreement issues ('their eco-friendly nature have outweigh them' instead of 'has outweighed'), missing articles ('the studies have observed'), and punctuation errors in the final paragraph. Despite these errors, meaning is rarely impeded, and the sentence structures show enough variety to meet the requirements of band 6.0.
