Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response attempts to address both parts of the prompt, discussing why people fail to recycle and suggesting solutions focused on raising awareness. However, the development of ideas is limited and repetitive. The introduction is an extremely long, convoluted single sentence that wanders into generalities about technological development rather than focusing directly on the prompt. The reasons given for failing to recycle are restricted mainly to a lack of awareness and messy personal habits, such as 'how much mess could someone make after him'. The solutions are also quite general, relying almost entirely on the concept of being aware without practical measures like government policy, recycling infrastructure, or economic incentives. Consequently, the ideas are under-developed, placing the response in Band 5.0.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The overall organization of the essay is flawed. The entire text consists of only six sentences spread across an introduction, a couple of massive block paragraphs, and a conclusion. The first paragraph is a run-on sentence spanning 51 words without proper terminal punctuation or clear clause separation. Cohesive devices are used repetitively and often awkwardly, such as starting multiple sentences with 'And in order to stop this' or 'With the globalization and there are people everywhere'. Paragraphing is extremely weak, as the main body lacks distinct division between the reasons for the problem and the proposed solutions. While there is a basic logical progression from problem to conclusion, the faulty cohesion and lack of proper paragraphing restrict this criterion to Band 5.0.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is relatively basic and repetitive, featuring phrases like 'clean of not just our homes', 'stinky smell', and 'right place'. There are noticeable word choice and collocation errors throughout the text, such as 'all the flourish of our planet' instead of flourishing, 'take a good care of the clean', and 'rubbish each kind of it on its right place'. Less common lexical items are attempted, such as 'globalization', 'consequence', and 'responsibility', but they are often misused grammatically or contextually. Spelling is generally acceptable, but the limited range, frequent inaccuracies, and lack of precision prevent the response from achieving a higher score, making Band 5.0 appropriate.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

Grammatically, the response is heavily strained by over-reliance on extremely long, poorly controlled complex-compound structures. The writer struggles to manage clause boundaries, leading to severe run-on sentences, particularly in the opening paragraph and the third paragraph. There are numerous grammatical errors, including missing prepositions, incorrect verb forms ('behavior not only going to harm'), and faulty pronoun reference ('someone make after him'). Simple sentences are rare, and attempts at complex structures frequently result in syntactic confusion and lack of punctuation control. These frequent errors cause significant difficulty for the reader and clearly align with the Band 5 descriptor for grammatical accuracy.
