Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response addresses both parts of the prompt: why people do not recycle as much as they could and what can be done to change this. A clear position is maintained throughout the essay. However, the ideas are somewhat limited and under-developed, relying on brief, generalised points such as 'unaware people' and 'lazyness' without deep elaboration. Furthermore, the examples provided, such as mentioning Africa broadly and India using three bins, are quite basic and lack specific context. This places the performance firmly at Band 5.0, where all parts are addressed but the development of ideas remains somewhat superficial.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay is divided into logical paragraph structures with an introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. However, the progression of ideas is hindered by awkward phrasing and mechanical use of cohesive devices, such as 'One the one hand' and 'The measuure of this issue are far reaching.' Referencing is occasionally unclear, and sentences do not always flow smoothly into one another, which disrupts the overall coherence. Paragraphing is present, but internal logical transitions require more polish. These features align closely with a Band 5.0 descriptor, where some overall organisation is evident, but cohesion is frequently faulty or repetitive.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The lexical range is limited and contains numerous noticeable errors in word choice and spelling, such as 'refurbish' instead of 'recycle', 'incrisingly prevelant', 'lazyness', and 'recidents'. The student attempts less common vocabulary, but inaccurate collocations and incorrect forms cause some difficulty for the reader and impede smooth communication at times. While the vocabulary is minimally adequate to express basic ideas about the topic, the frequency of spelling mistakes and inappropriate lexical choices prevents the essay from reaching Band 6.0.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The essay displays a very limited range of sentence structures, with frequent grammatical errors that often cause difficulty for the reader. There are persistent issues with subject-verb agreement, fragment sentences, and incorrect punctuation, as seen in expressions like 'primary causes of this issue is unaware people about this particularly' and 'Another contributing factor is do not having advancement in technology.' Complex sentence attempts are frequently faulty. Because errors are frequent and occasionally obscure the exact meaning of the sentences, the performance fits the Band 5.0 criteria.
