Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

The response addresses both parts of the prompt, discussing reasons why people do not recycle as much as they could (such as a lack of knowledge, educational gaps, and confusion over sorting) and suggesting solutions (school education and government campaigns). However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited and repetitive. For instance, the points about schools not teaching recycling are reiterated across paragraphs without being fully extended. Examples provided, such as mentioning dry and electric items, are general rather than deeply elaborated. While the task is adequately covered to meet the core requirements, the lack of depth and tendency to over-generalise place this performance firmly at Band 5.0.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

The essay is organised into introduction, body paragraphs, and conclusion, showing an attempt at overall structure. However, paragraphing is basic, and the progression of ideas is hindered by repetitive phrasing and inadequate logical transitions. Cohesive devices are used mechanically and often inaccurately, such as 'As result' or 'another reason for that is'. Referencing is frequently unclear, and the lack of proper punctuation between sentences creates run-on fragments (e.g., 'products. For instance, In my country school does not study aboutb recycle process'). These cohesion faults and mechanical links result in a disjointed reading experience, reflecting the descriptors for Band 5.0.

Lexical Resource: Band 4.0

The vocabulary used is very basic, repetitive, and restricted to everyday items. Words are frequently used in incorrect grammatical forms, such as 'many individual do not do recycle' instead of 'individuals do not recycle', and 'polution effect human' instead of 'pollution affects humans'. There are also numerous spelling errors and typos, such as 'eassy', 'nuch', 'polution', 'bussiness', 'govrment', 'camping' (instead of campaign), and 'diffrent'. The range is minimally adequate to convey basic meaning, but frequent errors in word choice and spelling cause noticeable difficulty for the reader, aligning with Band 4.0 descriptors.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.0

Grammatical control is weak throughout the response. The text features very limited sentence structures, relying on simple clauses with frequent structural errors. There are persistent subject-verb agreement errors, such as 'many peoples does not aware' and 'many resident does not know'. Complex sentence attempts are rare, faulty, and lack appropriate subordination or punctuation. Punctuation is largely neglected, with missing spaces after periods and incorrect capitalization mid-sentence. The high frequency of basic grammatical errors significantly distorts meaning and causes difficulty for the reader, which corresponds to a Band 4.0 score.
