Student answer (Band 5.5)

Indeed, it is undeniable that the imperative topic on reusing the waste material is a sizzling debate. As in numerous nations, individuals are not reutilising their used products again as much as they can do. Definitely, i agree with the statement regarding recycling. This essay will elucidate the factors in upcoming paragraphs.

Admittedly, there are several reasons behind this. Predominantely, Lack of awareness. As in various states, people are not recycling their waste due to absence of knowlege about it. They are completely unaware about the process of recycling. Moving further, another reason is carelessness of the public. As nowadays people have numerous amenities and they do not feel any responsiblity of saving the nature. Although these facilities are for the society's comfort but it become disaster for the environment. People are more habitual of one time use products which continuousy hazard the nature. For example, scientists in DRDO highlighted the statement about the overuse of plastic which was not recycled and fill the land due to which its fertility looses.

Furthermore, if there are problems its solutions are also there. Firstly, make society aware about the benefit and process of recycling. It can be possible by organizing several campaigns and programs on reutilisation of rubbish. In addition to this, imposing penalties on public who do not recycle their waste or by awarded them with money prize. For instance, in few countries there are some vending machines where people can submit plastic and glass containers and get money accordingly.

To recapitulate, although it is the responsiblity of the society to take care the environment by recycle their waste but people are going in the wrong direction by harming thr nature due to lack of knowledge and their careless behaviour. But it can be resolve by taking few steps like make people aware about recycling and by puting fine and give them award for their appreciation.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

The response addresses both parts of the prompt: why people do not recycle as much as they could, and what can be done to change this. The student introduces relevant ideas such as a lack of awareness and public carelessness for the causes, and education campaigns alongside financial incentives for the solutions. However, some ideas are slightly under-developed or expressed with a degree of generalization, such as the example regarding scientists in DRDO which lacks clear contextual integration. The position is stated early and maintained throughout the essay. Overall, the content satisfies the requirements for a Band 6.0 performance under Task Achievement, as all parts of the task are addressed with relevant ideas, though development is at times limited.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The essay displays a coherent overall arrangement with a clear attempt at paragraphing, separating the introduction, causes, solutions, and conclusion. Cohesive devices are employed, such as 'Predominantely', 'Moving further', 'Furthermore', and 'To recapitulate'. However, some of these cohesive markers feel mechanical or are structurally inaccurate (e.g., beginning a sentence with 'Predominantely, Lack of awareness.'). Referencing is occasionally unclear, and logical progression suffers from fragmented sentence structures within the body paragraphs. Paragraphing is present and fulfils a basic functional role. This aligns well with the Band 6 descriptor where cohesion is sometimes faulty or mechanical, and referencing is not always entirely clear.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

The student uses an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, attempting less common items like 'imperative', 'reutilising', 'amenities', and 'recapitulate'. However, there are notable limitations and inaccuracies in word choice, collocation, and word form throughout the response. Examples include 'sizzling debate' (unnatural collocation for an academic essay), 'knowlege' (spelling error), 'responsiblity', 'continuousy hazard the nature', and 'fertility looses' instead of 'loses'. While the vocabulary is sufficient to convey the general message, these persistent lexical errors and spelling mistakes restrict the score to Band 5.5, sitting slightly above Band 5 due to the clear attempts at less common words.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The writer attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, incorporating conditional structures and relative clauses (e.g., 'Furthermore, if there are problems its solutions are also there' and 'vending machines where people can submit plastic'). However, grammatical accuracy is weak, featuring frequent errors in punctuation, article usage, verb forms, and subject-verb agreement. Notable errors include 'i agree', 'it become disaster', 'public who do not recycle... or by awarded them', 'take care the environment by recycle', and 'by puting fine and give them award'. These frequent errors occasionally cause difficulty for the reader, placing the grammar firmly in the Band 5 category where attempts at complex sentences are often faulty and errors are frequent.
