Student answer (Band 5.0)
It is often argued that most countries, people do not recycle their rubbish as much as they could. In my opinion, there is a lots ways to recycle rubbish because it is very important to do this things every week.
One of the main reasons is that they are putting the rubbish items in dustbin and give them to rubbish collector. They can separate the others items to recycle such as plastic bottles, rappers, tiffins. These plasic is harmful for human health. Many people think it take a lot of time to separate different items. Moreover, in schools, colleges and other educational institues should aware children from beginning to do recycle every item. If they guide them from childhood they can adopt these things in their younger age. There is one more important factor is that less availability of recycling machines. For instance, in foreign countries there is machine in every city or district for citizens to recycle items and earn some money for recycling plastic. In addition, this is a good thing which attract people easily to find items and recycle items. In replacement of these items individuals get some money.
On the other hand, there is many solutions for recycling rubbish in different ways such as goverment should provide every home dustbins which is collecting by staff every day. If someone breaks rules they can give them a penalty to not breaking the rules again. Company can reduce the unnecessary packaging it can cause less rubbish. Parents should educate their children to do recycle items it is important and cause less pollution.
In conclusion, although there is many benefits for recycling rubbish. I believe, if government give them a proper penalty for one or two time they can not forget to recycling the products.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
The response addresses both parts of the prompt, discussing reasons why people do not recycle as much as they could (such as lack of time, inconvenience, and the scarcity of recycling machines) and offering solutions (such as educational campaigns, government-provided home bins, and financial penalties). However, the development of ideas is limited and sometimes repetitive, as seen in the overlapping points regarding penalties and education mentioned across multiple paragraphs. The writer adopts a clear position, though some arguments are superficial and lack fully extended examples. This performance aligns well with Band 5, where the task is addressed, but ideas remain somewhat under-developed and limited in depth.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
The essay displays some overall organisation, with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. However, the progression of ideas is frequently disrupted by awkward transitions and confusing paragraph boundaries, such as placing solutions in the middle of a paragraph dedicated to reasons. Cohesive devices are often inadequate or inaccurate; for instance, the phrase 'On the other hand' is used incorrectly to introduce further solutions rather than a contrast. Paragraphing is attempted, but internal cohesion is faulty, resulting in a disjointed flow that impacts readability. These features place the response firmly at Band 5.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
The vocabulary used is generally basic and repetitive, featuring phrases like 'rubbish items', 'recycle items', and 'do some money'. There are noticeable lexical errors, such as 'institues should aware children' instead of 'institutions should make children aware', and 'rappers' instead of 'wrappers'. The range of vocabulary is minimally adequate for the task, allowing the writer to communicate general ideas about recycling, but word choices and collocations are frequently unnatural. These limitations and frequent inaccuracies prevent the response from reaching Band 6, placing it securely at Band 5.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.0
The essay relies heavily on simple sentence forms alongside frequent attempts at complex structures that are often grammatically faulty. Examples of significant errors include 'there is a lots ways', 'it take a lot of time', 'the staff every day' missing passive forms, and 'penalty to not breaking the rules'. Subject-verb agreement errors ('there is many solutions') and tense inconsistencies occur throughout the response. While the meaning can generally be extracted, these frequent grammatical errors cause noticeable difficulty for the reader and reflect the characteristics of Band 4, where errors are frequent and basic structures dominate.
