The primary reason for not generating new products from rubbish is the amount of resources utilised for this phenomenon. Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
The response addresses both parts of the prompt, discussing reasons why people do not recycle as much (such as effort, resource allocation, and convenience of single-use items) and suggesting measures to change this (such as subsidies, equipment availability, and government assistance). A clear position is maintained throughout the essay. However, some ideas are slightly under-developed and tend to over-generalize, such as the claim that people choose work with less effort or that all single-use products are chosen solely for convenience. Examples provided are a bit general and lack specific depth. Nevertheless, all prompt requirements are covered, which fits the Band 6 descriptors well.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The essay displays a coherent overall arrangement with a clear division into paragraphs, including an introduction, two body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Logical progression is attempted, and cohesive devices are employed, such as 'Apart from that', 'Futhermore', and 'To conclude'. However, cohesion is sometimes mechanical or faulty, and referencing is occasionally unclear, as seen in sentences like 'to address such kind of situation and to prevent valuable resources necessary measures should be incorporated'. Paragraphing is used appropriately, but the flow between sentences within the body paragraphs occasionally feels disjointed. These characteristics align closely with the Band 6 descriptor criteria.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
The student uses an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, attempting less common lexical items such as 'subsidies', 'ecosystem', and 'contemporary'. However, there are numerous spelling and word-choice errors throughout the text, including 'drastically reduce' instead of 'reduced', 'sinlgle' instead of 'single', 'contrubites' instead of 'contributes', 'handeling' instead of 'handling', 'toadys' instead of 'today's', 'comtemptary' instead of 'contemporary', 'avaliable' instead of 'available', 'benifits' instead of 'benefits', 'numder' instead of 'number', and 'reduct' instead of 'reduce'. While these errors are frequent, they rarely impede overall communication, placing the lexical performance at a solid Band 5.5 to 6.0 level.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
The writer attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, demonstrating some variety in structure with conditional clauses and relative clauses. However, there are frequent grammatical errors and punctuation issues, such as missing articles, incorrect verb forms ('recycling of household generated garbage has drastically reduce'), tense inconsistencies, and run-on sentences without proper punctuation (e.g., 'if individual gets additional benifits by purchasing machinery used for recycling waste or providing assistance to establish the factory may leads to rise in recycling of rubbish'). Although these errors occur regularly, the meaning remains mostly clear to the reader, matching the Band 5.5 or 6.0 descriptors.
