Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

The response addresses both parts of the prompt, exploring why people do not recycle as much as they could and suggesting potential solutions, such as government awareness programs and limiting resources. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited and repetitive. For example, the explanation that materials are cheap and easily available is reiterated multiple times without much extension. Furthermore, the introduction is confusing, stating 'bye people should be recycled' and 'the individuals are reusing as much as they could', which slightly contradicts the premise of the prompt. While all parts are addressed, the ideas remain relatively basic and lack fully supported, elaborated examples. Consequently, this performance fits the Band 5.0 descriptor for addressing the task partially with limited idea development.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

The essay is divided into an introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion, showing some basic organizational structure. However, there is a lack of clear overall progression, and cohesive devices are often misused or mechanical. For instance, transitions like 'On other hand' and 'Adding more' are grammatically awkward or unnatural. Referencing is frequently unclear, as seen in sentences like 'some people does not understand the importance of materials. Also, they think reusing many times the same product will not provide them accurate result.' Paragraphing is attempted, but internal cohesion within paragraphs is weak due to repetitive phrasing and abrupt shifts in ideas. These features align closely with the Band 5 descriptor, where organisation is present but progression is unclear and cohesive devices are inaccurate.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is limited and repetitive throughout the essay. The student repeatedly relies on basic words and phrases such as 'rubbish', 'material', 'reusing', and 'people'. There are also several notable word choice errors and awkward collocations, such as 'bye people should be recycled', 'affordable easily rather than recycling', and 'plenty of availability'. Spelling is generally acceptable, but the lexical range is restricted to a minimally adequate level. Attempts to use less common vocabulary are missing or unsuccessful. Because the vocabulary lacks flexibility and precision, and contains noticeable errors that occasionally hinder natural reading, the response corresponds to Band 5.0.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The essay displays a very limited range of grammatical structures, with frequent basic errors. Simple sentences dominate, and attempts at complex or compound structures consistently result in grammatical failures. There are frequent subject-verb agreement errors, such as 'some people does not understand', 'the natural resources which the individuals getting by government', and 'people who c do not resuse'. Preposition and article errors are also widespread, for example, 'When it comes on natural resources' and 'This esaay is describing both the problems and solutions.' These persistent errors cause noticeable difficulty for the reader and reflect a weak command of grammar, fitting comfortably into the Band 5.0 criteria.
