Student answer (Band 5.0)
It has been debated that proper garbage disposal has not been required to other places.
I firmly believe that correct waste segregation must be implemented anywhere regardless if country has enough resources to support the project as it does not usually expensive. For example to where I reside now, separation of
recyling plastic should be in blue containers, and the black bags for the food.
In hospital, there are varieties of waste disposal, it includes the sharp containers for needles, white bags for recyling plastics, and boxes, black bags for general and yellow bags for infectious. There is a designated storage room that you can keep all the garbage but it must be in proper container, must be sealed, dated and signed, It will be later put to storage and collected by assigned garbage staff.
I therefore conclude, that campaign awareness and strict rules must be implemented urgently as this can save lives so everyone should cooperate and must be law abiding citizens. Many catastrophic events can be avoided if policy for garbage has been required. Like, if the rainy season comes , and strong rains started causing water to flood and the canals has been blocked of garbage like plastics and many things. Water can be overflowed causing flooding in may areas, the rivers will overflow causing damage to residential houses and establishments. The soil of the ground will be soften causing the land to erode resulting fo soil erosion and landslide. People's lives are at risk and properties and investments can be destroyed and resulting to financial loss.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
The response attempts to address both parts of the prompt, discussing why people do not recycle enough and suggesting measures to improve this. However, the development of ideas is somewhat disjointed and lacks depth. While the writer mentions awareness campaigns and strict rules, the explanation of why people fail to recycle in the first place is overshadowed by a lengthy personal anecdote about hospital waste disposal and a description of natural disasters. For instance, the transition from hospital waste protocols to flooding caused by blocked canals lacks a cohesive link to the core issue of household recycling habits. This places the response in the Band 5.0 range, as ideas are limited and under-developed, and the main arguments are not fully carried through.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
The organizational structure of the essay is weak and lacks clear progression. Paragraphing is poorly handled; for example, the second and third paragraphs focus heavily on specific hospital and home waste segregation rather than addressing the prompt's structural questions logically. Furthermore, cohesive devices are used clumsily, as seen with phrases like 'I therefore conclude, that campaign awareness' which disrupt the natural flow. Referencing is occasionally confusing, and the links between sentences do not always create a smooth transition of ideas. These issues reflect the Band 5 descriptor where there is some organization but no clear overall progression, and cohesive devices are inadequate or inaccurate.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
The vocabulary used is basic and repetitive, frequently relying on simple terms such as 'garbage', 'rubbish', and 'waste'. There are also several lexical errors and awkward collocations, such as 'recyling plastic' (spelling and phrasing), 'does not usually expensive', and 'campaign awareness'. While the writer attempts some less common vocabulary items like 'segregation', 'infectious', and 'catastrophic events', the inaccuracies in word choice and frequent spelling slips mean that the range remains limited and minimally adequate. Communication is occasionally strained due to imprecise phrasing, aligning the response with a Band 5.0.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The essay displays a very limited range of grammatical structures, relying heavily on simple or awkwardly constructed complex sentences. There are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text that cause difficulty for the reader. Examples include 'garbage disposal has not been required to other places', 'regardless if country has enough resources', 'the canals has been blocked', and 'the soil of the ground will be soften causing the land to erode resulting fo soil erosion'. Punctuation errors, such as unnecessary commas before clauses ('conclude, that'), also detract from the quality. Because the frequency of errors is high and attempts at complex structures are often faulty, this corresponds to Band 4.5 or 5.0; a score of 5.0 is awarded as meaning is generally retrievable despite the flaws.
