Student answer (Band 4.0)
Use of tobacco can cause serious diseases and should be produced unlawful. I totally agree with this statement. Another reason, because every country lung cases report increasingly everyday . In my opinion smoking is banned in every country then we control these types of effects.
To begin, one of the main reasons is most people smoke in every country. Because they feel good when they smoke. Another reason, in my country many people smoke when they feel alone. The result is many people develop different types of lung diseases like lung cancer and cough etc. For example, if every government takes initiatives so they can save their people. Firstly they should ban smoking in their own country after the result becomes positive. It is clear that this issue can have a direct effect on individuals and societies.
Furthermore, another important point is the government should first ban tobacco companies because this is the main reason that people are using smoking. If they did not take this big initiative then should increase the price of cigarettes and increase the price of cigarettes so much that nobody can afford to buy cigarettes. For these reasons, this point deserves attention. It shows that that the issue should be considered from more than one side. This government approach can help why the matter is relevant and why careful decisions are needed in everyday situations. Lastly, if we do not change ourselves then no person change this situation in a positive way.
In conclusion, smoking makes a lot of difficulties in their busy life. This is the reason smoking is very dangerous for every person. If a man cannot smoke and other person smoking near of that person both are effected.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 3.0
The response addresses the prompt only partially, showing significant confusion regarding the actual task topic. The stimulus provided in the writing instructions was about recycling rubbish, but the student has instead written an essay entirely about smoking and tobacco control. Because the response is largely off-topic and fails to discuss recycling, it is evaluated at a lower band level. While the student attempts to present some ideas about banning tobacco and increasing cigarette prices, these points do not answer the prompt regarding household waste management and recycling practices. To achieve a higher score, the writer must carefully read the prompt and ensure that all ideas and examples are directly relevant to the specific question asked.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 3.5
There is some basic organization with paragraphs introduced to separate different ideas, but the overall progression of the essay is unclear and disjointed. The relationship between sentences is frequently disrupted by awkward transitions, such as starting paragraphs with 'To begin' and 'Furthermore', followed by statements that lack logical development. Reference words are sometimes confusing, and cohesive devices are inadequate or inaccurate, making the flow bumpy. For instance, phrases like 'For these reasons, this point deserves attention' feel mechanical and do not effectively link the arguments together. To improve in coherence and cohesion, the writer needs to ensure that every sentence builds logically on the previous one and that cohesive devices are used naturally to connect ideas clearly.
Lexical Resource: Band 4.0
The vocabulary used is basic and repetitive, with frequent limitations that affect the clarity of the message. The student relies on simple terms such as 'people', 'smoke', and 'country' throughout the response. There are also noticeable errors in word choice, word form, and collocation, such as 'produced unlawful' instead of 'made illegal' or 'banned', and 'lung cases report increasingly everyday'. While the vocabulary is minimally adequate to express simple notions, these lexical inaccuracies and the lack of a broader range of vocabulary restrict the overall quality of the writing. To reach a higher band, the student should expand their working vocabulary and practice using less common lexical items with greater precision and correct word forms.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
The grammar demonstrates a very limited range of structures, consisting mostly of simple sentences and faulty attempts at complex clauses. There are frequent errors in verb forms, tenses, subject-verb agreement, and articles, which often cause difficulty for the reader. Examples include 'Use of tobacco can cause serious diseases and should be produced unlawful' and 'if every government takes initiatives so they can save their people'. Punctuation is also inconsistently handled, with run-on ideas and awkward phrasing. To move up to the next band, the writer needs to demonstrate better control over basic sentence patterns, reduce the frequency of grammatical errors, and develop greater accuracy when constructing more complex sentences.
