Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

The response addresses the main parts of the prompt by identifying reasons why people do not recycle and offering potential solutions, which aligns with addressing all parts of the task. However, some ideas remain limited and under-developed. For instance, the explanation regarding people taking the recycling system for granted or lacking awareness is quite brief and lacks fully extended supporting arguments or concrete examples. Furthermore, the position is not always entirely clear or maintained consistently throughout the text. To reach a higher level, the writer needs to provide deeper explanations for the causes and fully flesh out the proposed solutions with relevant examples.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The essay demonstrates a coherent overall arrangement with a clear attempt to structure the response into logical paragraphs, showing the baseline required for this band. Progression is generally visible as the writer transitions from discussing reasons in the second paragraph to solutions in the third. However, cohesion is at times faulty or mechanical. The use of cohesive devices such as 'To commence with', 'Secondly', and 'Futhermore' helps guide the reader, but referencing and linking within sentences can be imprecise, as seen in awkward transitions like 'Even, the governments launch new product'. Paragraphing is present and separates the introduction, body paragraphs, and conclusion adequately, though the internal flow of ideas needs smoother management to achieve a higher score.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is limited but minimally adequate to communicate the core ideas about recycling and waste management. The writer attempts some less common vocabulary, such as 'overcrowdness' and 'campaigns', but these attempts are accompanied by noticeable errors in word choice, form, and spelling, such as 'posible', 'knowldege', and 'Futhermore'. Additionally, phrases like 'take recycling system as a granted' demonstrate awkward collocations and lexical inaccuracies that cause some difficulty for the reader. To improve in this area, the student should expand their lexical repertoire and focus on accurate word forms, spelling, and natural collocations.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The essay displays a limited range of structures, relying mostly on simple sentences alongside a few attempts at complex forms that are often faulty. There are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text, including issues with verb forms and tenses ('people should starts', 'governments should also implements'), missing or incorrect articles ('in market', 'in schools syllabus'), and preposition use. Punctuation errors are also present, such as unnecessary commas interrupting sentence flow. While these errors do not completely obscure the message, they are frequent enough to cause difficulty for the reader and reflect a need for stronger control over basic and complex grammatical patterns.
