Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
The response addresses the prompt only partially, fulfilling the requirement to discuss why people do not recycle and what can be done about it, but the ideas remain limited and under-developed. For example, while the writer mentions that plastic bottles are thrown away and take a long time to erase, the explanation lacks depth and relies on over-generalised statements rather than fully supported arguments. Similarly, the proposed solution of using advertisements and public figures to change behavior is repetitive across paragraphs and lacks specific, well-reasoned examples. The writer's position is discernible, but the overall lack of extended support and limited development of main ideas keep this part of the writing at a restricted level.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
There is some organisation present, such as the division into introductory, body, and concluding paragraphs, but the text lacks a clear overall progression. Cohesive devices are frequently inadequate, inaccurate, or overused, leading to a mechanical feel. For instance, transitional phrases like 'In former view' and 'The one main idea for alleviate this issue' are misused or unnatural, failing to guide the reader smoothly through the arguments. Additionally, referencing is occasionally unclear, as seen with ambiguous pronoun usage ('They should try to use it again and again'), which makes it difficult to track whether the reference is to the people, the bottles, or the rubbish. Paragraphing is attempted, but internal logical transitions require significant improvement.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
The vocabulary used is limited but minimally adequate to convey basic meaning. There are noticeable lexical errors and issues with word choice, collocation, and word form that occasionally cause difficulty for the reader. Examples include using 'reprocess' instead of 'recycle', 'erasing completely' instead of 'breaking down' or 'decomposing', and 'graphing attention' instead of 'garnering attention' or 'grabbing attention'. The writer attempts some less common vocabulary, but inaccurate collocations and awkward phrasing demonstrate a restricted lexical range that needs greater precision and stylistic awareness.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The text displays a limited range of structures, relying mostly on simple sentences alongside attempts at complex sentences that are frequently faulty. There are frequent grammatical errors in sentence structure, verb forms, articles, prepositions, and punctuation that can cause difficulty for the reader. Examples include fragment sentences and awkward punctuation splits, such as 'For instance, a person daily purchased a water bottle and then throw it at a specific place like in an empty ground.' There are also issues with subject-verb agreement and prepositional patterns, such as 'for alleviate this issue' instead of 'to alleviate this issue' and 'throw rubbish at a particular place'. These persistent errors restrict the grammatical score.
