Student answer (Band 6.0)

In many nations, Individuals are recycling less garbage as compared to their capabilities. The root cause of this issue is a lack of awareness and proper system to recycle their trash. However, this issue can be address with a proper educational drives and management by local authorities.

The citizens of developing nations play very little role in recycling of the trash to minimize the pollution. The primary reason for that is the lack of awareness about consequences of their actions. Many people dispose their garbage in the rivers or other sites that harm aquatic life and pollute their drinking water. Another major reason for this trend is lack of recycling system in the backward areas of the under-developed countries. The government prefer to focus on the development of major cities or economy of rural areas, and neglect their environmental issue or addressing the root cause of it. Consequently, locals dispose their garbage in the most convienent way.

There are steps can be taken to address the issues on ground level. Many international organisation such as the United Nations and the World Health Organisation are conduction educational drives to provide knowledge about recycling of waste in efficient manner to people. This will increase the awareness among masses in backward areas. Another significant way is setting up proper system for citizens to follow in a desciplined manner. The Japan government has implemented a proper waste management system such as fixing days for specific type of trash in a week. As result, Japanese citizens are used to such desciplined structure from very young age. Therefore, other nations must setup their own system of disposing garbage on daily basis.

In conclusion, recycling waste is major issue in many nations due to lack of infastructure and awareness but there is rise in awareness among people with the efforts of several NGOs and organisations. the government also ahs their responsilbilt

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

The response addresses all parts of the prompt by discussing why people recycle less and providing potential solutions, which aligns well with the requirements for this band. Your position is generally clear throughout the essay. You successfully explain that a lack of awareness and inadequate infrastructure are the root causes, and you offer valid solutions such as educational drives and governmental waste management systems. However, some ideas are more fully developed than others. For instance, the paragraph explaining why citizens in developing nations fail to recycle is well-supported with examples like dumping garbage in rivers, but your concluding points trail off unfinished at the very end of the text. To reach a higher level, you need to ensure that every introduced idea is thoroughly explored and that your conclusion is fully articulated without abrupt cut-offs.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

Your essay demonstrates a coherent overall arrangement with a clear paragraph-by-paragraph structure that moves logically from introduction to causes, solutions, and a final summary. You attempt to use cohesive devices to guide the reader through your arguments, such as 'However', 'The primary reason', and 'In conclusion'. Nevertheless, your cohesion is sometimes mechanical or slightly faulty. For example, the sentence 'There are steps can be taken' lacks a relative pronoun or auxiliary verb, making the transition abrupt, and referencing is occasionally unclear, such as in phrases like 'The Japan government'. Paragraphing is used, but the final paragraph breaks off prematurely. To improve, you should refine your use of transition markers to make the logical progression smoother and ensure all paragraphs are complete and well-connected.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, attempting less-common terms like 'consequences', 'infrastructure', and 'under-developed'. However, your writing contains noticeable spelling and word-choice errors that occasionally detract from precision. Examples include 'address' instead of 'addressed', 'convienent' instead of 'convenient', 'organisation' instead of 'organisations', 'infastructure' instead of 'infrastructure', and 'desciplined' instead of 'disciplined'. While these errors do not completely impede communication, they reflect a limited control over spelling and word forms. To achieve a higher level, you need to use a wider range of less-common lexical items with greater precision and eliminate basic spelling mistakes through careful proofreading.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

Your writing displays a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, demonstrating that you can construct multi-clause sentences such as 'Many people dispose their garbage in the rivers or other sites that harm aquatic life'. However, you make several grammar errors throughout the text, including article omissions and misuse, such as 'The Japan government' instead of 'The Japanese government', and missing prepositions or auxiliary verbs like in 'There are steps can be taken'. You also have subject-verb agreement issues in the final sentences, such as 'the government also ahs their responsilbilt'. Despite these errors, they rarely impede overall communication. To move up to the next band, you should aim for a higher proportion of error-free complex sentences and tighten your control over articles, prepositions, and verb patterns.
