Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.0
You attempt to address both questions: you suggest that people discard drink cans and other rubbish because they do not recycle, and propose providing bins and reusing plastic bags and bottles. However, the reasons for low recycling are not clearly explained; the discussion mainly describes pollution and its effects, rather than why people choose not to recycle. The solutions are also brief and lack explanation or a specific example, so the response only partially develops the task. Your conclusion repeats the main points but does not add support. The response contains 180 words, which is 70 words below the 250-word minimum; the 8 words copied from the prompt are excluded from this count. Develop each answer with a clear reason, explanation, and relevant example.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
The response has a basic overall structure, with an introduction, separate paragraphs signalled by “on the one hand” and “on the other hand,” and a conclusion. This helps the reader identify the two main sections. However, progression within the paragraphs is weak: the first moves from lack of interest to health effects and environmental damage without clearly connecting these points to the reasons people fail to recycle. Linking phrases such as “As a result” and “However” are used, but some connections are unclear or repetitive, and “First thing” followed by “Secondly Then” disrupts the flow. Use one clear main idea per paragraph and connect each explanation directly to it; avoid announcing what you will discuss and instead guide the reader through the argument.
Lexical Resource: Band 4.5
You use some relevant topic vocabulary, including “recycle,” “pollution,” “environment,” “dustbin,” and “plastic bottles,” so the general subject is recognisable. However, the range is basic and repetitive, and several inaccurate word choices or spellings make parts difficult to understand. For example, “do not intest in do recycle things” does not express the intended idea clearly, while “wastage material” and “poltythene” are unsuitable or misspelled forms. “Cold drink cane” and “this thing” are also imprecise. Build a small set of accurate phrases for causes and solutions, such as “lack of awareness,” “convenient recycling facilities,” and “separate household waste,” and check spelling and word forms before submitting.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
You attempt a few connected sentences, including a cause-and-effect structure beginning “This is because,” and use simple present forms to discuss the issue. However, the range of sentence structures is very limited, and frequent errors in sentence formation, agreement, articles, and punctuation sometimes obscure meaning. For instance, “individual do not recycle” lacks plural agreement, and “people do not intest in do recycle things” has an incorrect verb pattern. The sentence beginning “They create pollution” also joins ideas without clear grammatical links, while inconsistent capitalisation and spacing around punctuation make the writing harder to follow. Practise accurate simple sentences first, then combine them with controlled clauses using “because,” “so,” and “which.”
