Student answer (Band 6.0)

Individuals are not recycling their trash in the maximum capacity in several nations. The root cause of this trend is lack of awareness and availability of proper systems. However, these problems can be addressed through campaign and goverment assistence.

People are recycling low quantity of their garbage in many countries. The citizens of these nations have lack of awareness about the effect of their action on the environment. While low literacy rate can be responsible for their lack of awareness. Another major cause of this trend is availabilty of the system that are capable recycling trash. The lack of waste management system are forcing people to dispose their trash in the most convienent way. For instance, many developing nations have small number of recycling plants for plastic as compared to their disposable level. As a result, huge mountians of plastics are piled up every day.

There is need to take some necessary steps to solve root cause of these problems. There is a dire need of creating awareness among people that can be done with help of educational institutions. The goverment should include proper chapters about recycling and its importance in the academic curriculum as well as organise the campaign and educational drives in the rural areas of the region. For example, many environmental groups collaborate with schools to organised seminers in the villages to provide knowledge about how to recycle their waste. Consequently, several students present their ideas to the people about recycling practices. While government can also assist by increasing numbers of waste mangement plants that will significantely reduce amount of trash pilled up in dumping sites. If the governments provide tax exemptions and subsidies to bussiness to set up recyling plant then waste will be not dumped in the sites.

In conclusion, people are not recycling their trash due to lack of knowlege and infrastructure but many organisations are working for creating awareness, whereas many new waste management plants are being set up in several countries

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 7.0

The response addresses both parts of the question and maintains a clear focus: limited awareness and inadequate recycling systems are presented as causes, followed by education and government support as solutions. The examples about schools holding village seminars and the shortage of plastic-recycling plants help extend these points. This fits a response that covers the task with relevant, supported ideas. To strengthen the development further, explain more precisely how low literacy leads to less recycling, and clarify how subsidies or tax exemptions would encourage businesses to build facilities. The conclusion also mainly repeats the causes and solutions; it could more clearly summarise the proposed changes and their expected impact.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The essay has a clear overall structure: an introduction, a paragraph on causes, a paragraph on solutions, and a conclusion. The progression from awareness and infrastructure problems to education and government incentives is easy to follow, and examples are placed in relevant sections. There is also some effective linking, such as “For instance” and “As a result.” However, cohesion is not consistently smooth: “While low literacy rate…” is an incomplete connection, and the repeated use of “While” does not always express a clear contrast. Some references, such as “these problems” and “the system,” could be more precise. Use linking phrases selectively and make the relationship between each sentence explicit to improve the flow.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

The response uses vocabulary relevant to the topic, including “waste management system,” “educational curriculum,” “tax exemptions,” and “subsidies.” These choices show an attempt to discuss the issue beyond basic terms. However, inaccurate word choice, collocation, and spelling are noticeable and sometimes make the phrasing awkward: “recycling low quantity,” “availability of the system,” and “huge mountians” are examples. Several key terms are also repeated, particularly “trash,” “awareness,” and “government.” Aim for more natural combinations such as “recycle a smaller proportion of their waste” and “access to recycling facilities,” and proofread spelling carefully. Greater precision and control of these expressions would make the vocabulary more effective.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

There is an attempt to use a mix of simple and complex structures, including relative clauses and conditional forms, as in “that can be done with help of educational institutions” and “If the governments provide…”. Meaning is generally recoverable, but errors occur across sentence patterns and agreement. For example, “the system that are capable” has a singular-plural mismatch, while “The lack of waste management system are forcing” also has faulty agreement. The sentence beginning “While low literacy rate…” is grammatically incomplete, and “will not be dumped” would be needed in the final conditional sentence. Articles and plural forms also need attention. Practise checking each clause for a subject and verb, then review agreement and article use.
